Selective Blocking of Incoming Calls

Post by Image »

Hi all--

Do any hacks out there make this possible? This would be huge!

Thanks. -- John

Thanks, can you elaborate?

Do I transfer my existing MagicJack # to GC or do I need to get a GC # and then forward to my MJ #?

I'm guessing the latter... Of course, getting GC account sounds like challenge.

Yes the latter. Working well with MJ. Took less than 12 hours to get an account here. Just apply for one and see how it goes.

Would some basic features of call blocking ever be a potential MagicJack feature? I've tried GrandCentral, but would prefer using one service for telecom.. instead of multiple (beta?) services with multiple interfaces/logins/and potentials to be scrapped by the company (not that they WILL go under, but using more cheap/free services all at once makes it seem like it would increase my odds of encountering service cancellations). That's not to say that GC doesn't have great features-- it certainly does. But, I've been burned by many calling companies and always fear the worse-- AOL Phoneline, NetZero PrivateLine, SunRocket, and a variety of others. Sure, they were all free/cheap and provided good use while I had them, but it's simply a hassle to keep trying new things, loving them, then finding replacements. That reason alone is what has made me stick to some paying services (e.g. cell phone plans)-- I pay for it and know the number will remain mine so long as I pay.

All that to say, has MagicJack hinted at the possibility of new internal features in the future? Their terms of service note a potential premium version with new features. Is there a screencap or preview of their existing software? I'd love to see the interface before buying it. Also, there is no number portability (yet), is there?
