Call Quality - Thin Client vs ATA (Linksys PAP2T-NA)
I am running magicJack on an HP T5710 and am generally pleased with the call quality.
We do experience the annoying tones/beeps when my wife uses the Panasonic speakerphone and we have an occasional problem where no one can hear us (both incoming and outgoing calls); a quick call back solves the issue.
I have been reading up on the Linksys PAP2T product and it seems like a good way to use the magicJack service (I realize there are TOS issues).
But, before I purchase a VOIP adapter, is there any difference in call quality between the magicJack on a TC and using the Linksys product?
Thanks!

ATA Rocks
Subjectively, I find quality is better in PAP2T than TC 5710.

I have never used a Thin Client with my MagicJack but have found that the call quality has been improved using an ATA (Linksys RTP300) over having the dongle plugged into my computers USB port. During conversations using the dongle with computer I would hear what I would describe as a slight stuttering a few times during conservations that lasted about a half hour. My computer is no dog either(Xeon Workstation). Since using the ATA I have not experienced this slight stuttering. Also I have found the the audio to be more intelligible. I realize this is an subjective statement and if I find the time I would to run an abx test using a recording being played to discern if their is in deed any differences between the ATA and the dongle/computer setup.
thanks everyone for the replies .... now, I just have to figure out how to get my SIP info .... running the stroth's v1.6 utility on my T5710 gives me a message that says: "No SIP data found, please try again".
Any tips on getting through this one would be appreciated.

Trouble getting SIP with Stroths v1.6
After spending many hours, I am still getting "NO SIP INFO AVAILABLE",
Is there a check list on setting up the Configuration for SMJ 1.6 ?
I wish to use it with a Linksys pap2 adapter. It worked fine until about February 2009 and I have been forced to use the USB ever since.
I tried PM DUMP and a search does not show the phone number or even parts of it.

Stroth's utility will not work anymore to get the password. You will have to use password finder to get it now. Just google magicjack hacks and you will find where to get it in no time.ramjet555 wrote:After spending many hours, I am still getting "NO SIP INFO AVAILABLE",

Linksys PAP2t
Thanks for the password finder, I had pm dump, I read the instructions and got the same password and username as I found last time. At least I now know I have the correct password.
I am not able to get my Linksys Pap2 2 line adapter to work.
is there any list of all the settings for MJ to work in a Linksys Pap2 adapter?

Your going to need to run mjmd5. There are directions for this in the tips, tricks and hacks forum. The best advice is to read the sticky threads on this. I could not be much help on this I use MJ on an old computer. If this looks like more than you would want to try then I would look at the wanted/sale forum here where you can find great prices on thin clients. Good luck
password
I've put in the file into win32, that got Stroths working and able to get password.
I notice that in addition to what looks like the "old password", I'm seeing an addition 20 letters and numbers?
Just how long is the Password?
I would really like to get hold of the latest configuration for a Linksys Pap2N
I suspect that I have made some stupid error on the Linksys set up.
thanks

Dial Tone !
I now have Dial tone, but get busy tone if I call and cannot receive calls on the ATA. One thing that made a difference was typing in the password rather than copying and pasting in.
Another thing was changing the 3600 to 0
that seemed to make an instant difference.
When I reset it back to 3600, it stopped working.
Has anyone else been through this with a Linksys PAP2T-NA?
Thanks

linksys rtp300
i have the same prob with the error (fast busy) beep after dialing.
thus far have been unable to resolve. . .any ideas? am i not dialing properly, etc? (ie. are there '#'s' in order to dial out, etc that don't know of?)
thanks, anything related will be appreciated, and even better, potentially useful.
with the linksys rtp300(and similar) reg @ 3600 won't allow registration unless the field is either left blank or with a '0', however on my process dumps MJ uses 1800 for this setting. (also won't work in the rtp300)
there must be some setting that i'm overlooking/state of being ignorant (while being in an ignorant state) if the linksys is able to register, or at least that's what i have supposed thus far, although i suppose i could be wrong.
thanks (thankd -start '# daemon process'
