I'm coming up on my 1 year MJ expiration. They are of course offering 5 more yrs for $60.
Its a good deal I think IFF MJ will last 5 years... specifically:
- Will the MJ company last for the next 5 years?
- Will my MJ USB dongle hardware last for 5 more years? The first one I got crapped out after about 6mos and it was HELL to convince MJ to replace it. Are these dongles built to last years and years?
Do people honestly think buying 5 yrs worth of MJ is a good investment? Obviously the break even point is after 3 yrs...
I have serious doubts that the dongle is built to last. And the replacement arrangements are a horror show.
Thoughts? Everyone else doing the 5 yr deal?
1YR expiration: 5YR extension? will MJ last for 5 years?

Being a private company, I don't think it will be easy to discern the profitability of the company. They may be hoping for a buyout from a larger corporation next week, or they may plan on offering the same service for years to come. It's a gamble, but you were going to pay $20 to renew anyway, so is the extra $40 a gamble you're willing to take? Most pre-paid services of any type work the same- they are in debt to provide the service you paid for. If they go out of business before they provide the service, you'll get to file a stakeholder claim in any bankruptcy proceedings, provided there's any assets that can be recovered (usually it just means you fill out hundreds of papers to get a few cents).
