Hawking HBB1 Improves The Audio Alot!

Post by saxman »

I just went to Fry's Electronics and got the Hawking HBB1 Broadband Booster on sale for $28.00! That's over $20.00 off the regular price. I also needed a Network switch to go with it because my router is also a modem and it needs to go through a switch to work. I got a Linksey SD205, 5 port little thing. for $29.00., plus an extra ethernet cable for $3.00. So for a total of $60.00 I think I solved the issue of the on again, off again sound quality with the MJ, especially while doing other things on my pc while using the phone.

I just spent 30 minutes just shooting the bull with a friend to test it out. It was perfect! It was every bit as good as my old landline, maybe better. No skips or drag or pause or clicking or echo of any kind. I'm sold on this gear. But to really test it I started downloading 2 movies that total about 2 gigs. The sound was good but did skip once or twice real quick but not enough to interrupt a call. All and all I give the Hawking HBB1 a 10 out of 10!-The thing works and I'm sure having the Linksey switch in the middle helps also. If your having audio problems while talking and surfing or downloading try the Hawking.

Good to hear it works for you. Perhaps I should look into that also. Thanks for sharing the info.

Saxman,

Can you look at the power supply of your Hawking and see if it can take 220 Volt input? or just 120 Volt? I want to know if I can use it overseas.

Duke,
I went through the manual from front to back and unles I missed it, I saw nothing on the actual power of the unit. They give you an adapter to use with it but say nothing about the voltage. Here is their tech support. I wrote to them on something else and they answered the same day--http://www.hawkingtech.com/rma.php or call them at 800-756-7832---I'm reading right now about testing the unit. They are saying to run a big download and play a game and/or get on the phone at the same time and it should be a clear call! Nice!-I did make a few calls while downloading-it works!

More tests using the Hawking Booster-I just tried to really put a load on the booster and use the phone and it failed. I put in my pc game GUN while downloading 2 movies and tried using the phone. I have 1 gig of ram w/ XP-it would not work-it was all tore up! lol-next I tried just using the phone with the downloads going. I worked but not as good as it did ealier in the day. I've noticed that when people get off work and jump on those desktops the audio quality fades as we share the pipe. Earlier today I downloaded while using MJ and it worked good but not during "rush hour" in the pipeline.-

So the audio wuality is improved a whole lot when used by itself and and improved some with other things gobbling the resourses. The Hawking does work and does what it says. It devides the connection up and classifies and puts priority on certain traffic like voip. It would be nice to be able to do it all while talking but I have dsl and that just ain't gonna happen. Maybe not with cable even. It's alot better then before I added the Hawkins Booster and much cheaper then the last phone!

The DSL Turtles Crack Me Up!

Post by saxman »

I love the DSL turtles. The Slowskis have the neighbors over for dinner. The turtle lady who is the hostess tells the other woman about having DSL and the woman says (brags) " O that's funny! We have cable because it's so much faster. Ben (the turrle) says-with alot of pissed off turtle attitude) O' DO YOU HAVE CABLE BECAUSE IT'S SO MUCH FASTER? His wife says (embarrased no doubt) BEN! -Ben says " IM SORRY! (not really meaning it at all ) Mrs' Slowski tries to calm things down by saying "anyone want more roast beef?"-hahhhaahaha (do turtles even eat roast beef? ) I love that stupid commercial and hope it wins alot of awards for it's creators. Really original and so real. Looked like moments in my house at times growing up-
