I have to start over???? Really???

Several weeks ago there was a big "upgrade" to MagicJack that crashed my MJ that had been running on the Thin Client for 4 months.

TC 5710 512/512 with all software mods for MJ

After many hours on the website with technicians they finally sent me a NEW MagicJack to replace the one they couldn't fix.

The NEW one works just fine on my PC desktop and on my Laptop, both running XP.

On the TC running XPe however it is different.

It goes through the full install with the messages "One minute.....etc" and the message "Tell your friends....etc". Then it does the "bar code" thing and then displays the phone book window. There is also a dial tone in the phone.

But it does NOT display the phone number at the top of the phonebook, has a message on the left that says an upgrade will be installed in the next 60 seconds, and it asks me to connect to the internet and double click "here" at the top. Doing that I get a flash of a partial screen and then back to the phone book, still not connected and still saying an upgrade will be installed in 60 seconds.

I am sure I am connected to the internet because I can go online with gmail on the TC. But MJ doesnt think I am connected.

I have tried the "Fix" button but it says the file is not a windows executable file....????

I assumed that the previous software mods I did to the TC are still there and the new MJ would just boot and go. It didn't.

Could this have something to do with the inability of the TC to save files??? If so what do I do to fix it??

Maybe I have to start over with the software on the TC, I hope not because that was a two day job.

I am not without phone because I can still run it off the XP desktop or on the XP laptop but I would really like to be able to use the TC I spent $100 on!!!

My TC is the same as what you are running. I haven't had any problems except when trying to use that extension cable that came with the dongle. I also do a commit after each upgrade, not sure if this has anything to do with your problem with your TC.

That might be the problem. I am using the extension!!!! Never would have thought of that! I will report back tomorrow.
