I am wondering if an internet accelerator program such as SpeedConnect will help in improving MJ's sound quality? anybody uses this kind of program?

Personally, I don't. Typically, VoIP uses very little bandwidth. Using the G.711 coding algorithm, you only require about 80kbps IP bandwidth. Both DSL and Cable easily handle this amount of bandwidth.

Now, if you are downloading torrents and music at the same time as trying to use your magicJack, then, you might start seeing issues.

What kind of sound quality problems are you experiencing?

It's not going to help much as MJ voice compression is very good in the first place, most anything messing with those packets will likely cause garble or jitter in the voice.

I hear "hissing" sounds when I use MJ. I tried 7 different phones, reduced the volume on the headset and does not improve. I do not use anything else when using MJ.

Could be you just bought a lemon. :(
