I got a MJ about 3 weeks ago, and all worked well. Hooked it up to my Panasonic cordless phone. Yesterday, a problem developed. I can dial out using the "soft phone" app, and can dial out when using an old wired phone. But if I now use my cordless phone, I get a dial tone, but when I press the numbers on the keypad on the cordless phone, nothing happens, it just keeps giving me a dial tone.
I think an update was recently forced on this thing (new soft phone with two speed buttons). Did that break something?
I know they claim it won't work with all phones, but it had been working fine for 3 weeks until yesterday. Does anyone else have trouble with a phone that used to work? I also tested it with a different Panasonic cordless phone system, and that won't dial out either. You can answer calls, and if you pickup you get a dial tone, but I can't dial out with either cordless phone.

Go to your http://my.magicjack.com/login.html after your enter your email and password. Scroll down and click on the grey bar ( mymagicjack)
There is a new section called MagicJack settings. Click on change settings, then check pin not reconized, save and restart your MJ ( or just reboot). See if that helps.

Unfortunately it didn't help. This is baffling as it had worked fine for the first 3 weeks. I think it was either the software update they pushed, or my dongle is mafunctioning. It works with an old wired phone, but it no longer will work with either of my Panasonic cordless phones.

Well I know others on here have had problems with Panasonic cordless phones. And they always seem to manifest AFTER an update, odd. Maybe it has something to do with an impedance problem Panasonic phones have. They are always JUST on the edge of not working and something in an update tweaks the dongle and pushes it over the edge.
All I can suggest is to try a different brand cordless ( for now) TILL the next update and then try your Panasonic again. Just my 2 cents.

I was having problems with both of my cordless phones - Uniden 2.4 and GE 5.8. Thought it may have something to do with interference with my wireless frequency. I did not have the patience to troubleshoot, so I have connected my non-cordless phone and 'RTC" which I purchased on eBay for traveling purposes and it works fine as can be expected (though people still complain my voice is breaking up).

New AT&T Cordless phone works (at least for now)
I decided to try another cordless phone system so I bought a new AT&T cordless system. Plugged it into the MJ and it seems to dial out fine.
Maybe there is something to the Panasonic cordless phones having trouble... I"ll have to wait to see if the AT&T stops working now as well.

As I had mentioned MANY people with Panasonic phones are having problems ( NOT ALL), from no Called ID to not being able to generate tones. I would try your Panasonic again after the next update and you may find it now works..
I have been using a Motorola ( 5.8ghz) for over a year now and it has always worked. My 2 favorite cordless phones are Motorola AND Panasonic.

I too love Panasonic cordless phones. They pretty much last forever and so do the batteries. But they can be problematic. I've not tried mine with Magicjack (I use a "free" American Communications phone that I got for $10 with a $10 rebate at Staples which works great). However, I did have some problems with my Panasonic after my landline moved from copper to fiber when I had Verizon Fios installed. I had bad echo on some calls - but not others. Verizon tech support's first question was if I was using a Panasonic cordless phone? There is something about them that causes problems. (BTW, I had no echo using any other phone in the house - just the Panasonic which is the most heavily used phone since its in the kitchen).

Well, I went out and bought an AT&T DECT 6.0 cordless phone to try with magic jack. The phone can dial out where the Panasonic can't after the last update. However, I still get a LOT of dropouts and people say the voice quality is terrible. Plus, even though I have the "lucky you" update, I get the "beeping" people talk about which sounds like someone is dialing (DTMF tones as if someone were pressing the number keypad keys).
I want to replace a 2nd land line with VOIP, but I've come to the conclusion magic jack isn't the answer. Yes, its cheap, but what is the point when you have all these problems.
Its simple : NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.
I had $40 in the MJ, another $90 in a new cordless phone (with extension phones), plus they will still nick me $20 a year. All this and I still don't have a reliable system that works. My CPU is a brand new quad core computer that runs over 3 GHz, so I doubt that is the problem. I use Comcast cable modem and have a new DOCSIS 3.0 modem as well.
This all points to the fallability of magic jack.
So today I went out and bought an Ooma. Wow, what a difference. This thing WORKS with my Panasonic phone system - which is a 2 line 5.8 GHz system that has better range than the DECT 6.0 system I tried - and it does not require the use of my $3500 PC workstation.
This is only the first day I've tested, but so far so good. The quality is as good as or BETTER than my land line phone. It can be "back wired" to all jacks thoughout the house (although I haven't done that since I use cordless for the most part) and comes with an extra Scout to hook up another phone different from the cordless system.
Oh yeah, and after the initial purchase, its FREE. That's right, no fee, not even $20 a year. Yes, I know people question if they will be around long. Well, this will pay itself off completely in 7 months, so if they last even that long, I will break even. After that I'm saving over $30 and month, and I have a system that works.
So now I can take by the AT&T cordless phone system back. I'll probably try to sell the 3 week old magic jack on Craig's list. I'll end up spending about a hundred bucks more initially, but then no yearly fee, and I've got a system that actually works.
As they say, your mileage may vary. But for me the mj experience was horrendous and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. To me, its just a toy gadget. Let those who want to experiment and be beta testers use it. Me, I just wanted a phone system that worked, and now it seems I've got one.

Once again, somebody tried to replace an expensive land line with a20$ a year service and is disappointed. If you need and can afford quality and high reliability, stick to your local company's land line. I dropped it, because I could not afford those $ 580.-/year any more. I use MJ as my desk phone whenever my computer is turned on( anywhere between 4-14 hours a day) and use my cell as a primary phone.But for me the mj experience was horrendous and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
