Internet Nasties might throw faults into MagicJack

I've disabled ALL my security on my computer. Running Windows XP SP1. No firewalls. No Antivirus programs.

I got crap thrown at me, and it was playing havoc with Magic Jack website navigation. I kept getting tossed to http://91.206.201.8/ and http://winsecurepro.microsoft.com, as well as http://winsecurepro.com

Turns out my hunch was right - Some crap did get installed, but thankfully, it was caught in a net cast out by Sandboxie.

It would be nice if MagicJack uses its own internal browser instead of Internet Explorer, and stored the cache on the MagicJack alone. Shouldn't be too hard. A good modification of URL2File or Lynx would work great. Lynx can be seated within the Magicjack user interface, and it would run under its own weight, not through Internet Explorer. Doing that would solve a LOT of connection problems, since maney security programs would try to intercept and stop the modified IFRAME calls the current version of Magicjack connects to the network with. Addig support like that should not take more than 3 megabytes for the HTML layout system, and the GIF/JPG viewer. Even a simple RIPScript interface would work, as that is a GUI system. Old, yes, but extremely lightweight for the 32 MB Magicjack device.

Microsoft recommends using a firewall and the latest updates to its OS, at a minimum. Before asking MJ to redesign its product why not follow basic security precautions beforehand? Would you have had the same results if you had?
