YOU NEED MORE POWER TO THE USB PORT
MAGIC JACK SHOULD BE THE ONLY THING YOU PLUG IN eXAMPLE

First contact level 2 support at MJ ( chat ) ask them to help you unistall MJ
Down To The root level
2 purchase a PCI USB 2 Card Install It Ok
Nothing else will be plug in to the card so MJ has Full Power

(remember that MJ is usb port sensitive and that you can't move it arount from port to port )

after your pc is ready and there is no one trace of the MJ previous Installation re install MJ and you should be ok even if you wnat to use it as a fax line
good luck hope i was of some help
with kind Regards

Wrong - I have PCI USB 2 card with 2 other devices plugged in - Not a problem.

Also wrong - it does not matter what USB port you plug into. In fact, tech support chat will ask you to move it to another USB port if you run into problems.

FAX, as discussed in details in many other threads on this forum is a hit or miss proposition. Some have had success in configuring their fax machines to operate over MJ - some have not.

One more thing, WinXP with only 256M of RAM is more than adequate for running MJ. The entire system works better with more RAM - I have 512 in my old celeron box and it works great for web, email, skype, and MJ.

My main MJ machine only has 64MB of RAM and performs well. :)

As long as MJ is the only application running it runs smooth month after month.

Small HP computer running XP and Wireless G network.

Just installed a new CPU fan and cleaned it up,gonna stay with MJ a couple more years.

No keyboard,mouse or monitor.

The error comes up when an update or reinstall is trying to make a new install.dat file. After spending an hour with MagicJack support the solution is ... UNPLUG YOUR MJ DONGLE. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\magicJack first try to uninstall the install.dat file by right clicking>uninstall (this option was not available for my Windows XP) and then delete the file. If the option to uninstall is not there then just delete the file. Once the file is deleted plug back in your MagicJack. MJ Support said they are coming out with a new install.dat file soon. Hope this saves someone the frustration I went through.
