No in or outgoing calls on Dell Inspiron with wifi card
Brand new MJ arrived today. Plugged it into my Dell Inspiron Celeron Laptop. It wouldn't install. Called MJ Tech chat they told me to uninstall Nero and Music Match. Unistalled both and in then installed, but couldn't make calls out or in. It would give me three beeps and then show "Not Answering" in the call log. Tech chat had me run update and MJfix. MJfix would not complete.
Plugged the MJ into my Dell Tower..it worked. Plugged it into my wife's Toshiba laptop...it worked.
Then reset my laptop to a prior access point and installed again..same problems.
Tech Chat said they would have their chief engineers solve the problem..right!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MagicFIX will run to completion even if your MJ is broken I really don't know what the hell it does beside set the volume levels that you can do by hand.
The normal reason it won't run is it is an hyper-active Java scripted application and M$ (especially Vista) doesn't like that. Make the MagicFIX page a trusted site with protected mode turned off and it should run to completion for what ever good it will do you.
I have had it fix my Vista problem of not auto-starting a gazillion times. It always finds it not working, it always fixes it and it alway never works after the fix. I think it is one of the least functional fix-it programs I have ever seen and it kind of ticks me off when people call Tech Chat and the MagicFIX doesn't run that they don't seem to know that if you have your security set at the default levels there is no way in hell it will run on a Vista machine and a lot of XP machine especially if it has SP3 on it.
Also this is another pet peeve of my about their Tech Support they always tell people to field strip all the software on your machine, it never does any good and then they hang up on you leaving you with a computer devoid of software.
There are a couple of media players that MJ doesn't play nice with and MJ is not fond of Nero's Virtual Disks. I am sorry I don't remember the names of the two media players but do a search on this site and you will find them. If you remove anything Nero just remove the Virtual CD & DVD the rest doesn't hurt a thing and my MJ ran just fine with Nero but I had never installed the Virtual drives.
Right about here I should say something nasty about the tech support people but I won't and only because I think they have been give a computer, and inferior FAQ manual/database and then thrown to the wolves AKA MagicJack owners who by the time they get to the chat session are so pissed off it is difficult to be civil to your grandmother much less some stranger that is supposed to have the answer and never does.

My system is running Windows XP and not Vista
I'm running XP and not Vista. I the media players I have installed are Windows Media Player, VLC, Hauppuage WinTV, Winamp and the Azueus program has a built in player. Not sure any of these mess with MJ. Anyone know?

3 busy beeps and no incoming or out going on wireless laptop
My MJ works on my desktop and not my laptop.
I have the same problem that tec support (if that's what it's called) can not fix either.
I just get busy signals eitherway.

Have you tried other USB ports on you laptop? Like mine has side ports and some in the back.
Also it might be interesting if you tried a powered USB HUB on your laptop.
Where I am going with all this is maybe you laptop just doesn't have enough power to run USB powered devices like the MJ. Some USB powered devices require more power than others and I think it has been reported on this site that using a Powered Hub solved some problems.

I have tried all ports and two different laptops, works on desktop.
I would have to find a USB power box to try to see if that works.
I thought maybe the usb is not powerful enough, but can find no options for the power.

In answer to your question.. Yes.. I use mine on a HP Media Center desk top and it is working perfectly.. I also use it on an xp HP ZD7040us works perfect.. the laptop is also on wireless, I have used it in Hotels and motels on their wireless systems and even in Borders Book stores and occasionally on my neighbors wireless signal. and used it on my brothers dsl wireless.. I did have a problem at my brothers place on his dsl. seems that if I'm the only one using the network at the time it works fine, yet, with any other PC in his house running, the MJ had problems that prevented its use.. This leads me to ask.. Are you on cable, or dsl?? and, if on dsl, is the speed high speed or is it the very lowest that is provided by your Ph Co? That would be a very big contributer to the issue..If you're not on the dsl, ok..fine.. I am just throwing out the possibilities as I see them since I didn't see what your ISP is.. I could look again , but, I just thought I would mention those as possible causes..Also, in some instances, as HolemanGT mentioned, the USB could have problems, the one on the laptop may not be powering properly, the powered USB hub would give a constant voltage to the MJ that is needed.. The Laptop USBs may be drained by other devises hogging the power.. I don't know. Just guessing.. trying to give some options.. But, yes.. My MJ works fine on my HP laptop. Also, if other PCs are running on your network,and especially if you have bit torrent or some other kind of up or download going on.. that could also contribute to the issue. I didnt see any mention of music programs you might be running on your Laptop. check the list of programs that MJ does not play well with.. you may find that one of them is your problem

Well, it is your laptop issue. Why you give so much hard time for the tech rep? You know that it is your laptop's issue. Why don't you do a system recovery on your laptop with your recovery disks that came with the laptop? Install a clean OS, try it from no any protection runing on the background. I am also a teck support rep for an ISP company. So many customers just want to give up something is just because it is their system issues. If the laptop is for your business use, and you are a business man, you got to solve the issue by yourself even you are not a tech person. Again, on your system, we don't know what you are runing on your system. Looking at your chat session, if I am the rep, I would ask you what kind of programs that you have on your system? I chated with the tech twice, and they couldn't really help me too much as the issues that my VISTA couldn't recognize my MJ. However, the last resolution was that I restart the system many times in order to make it works. After that, I will know how to prevent the same issue.
Laptop
I posted problems with the laptop. Everyone had good ideals.
I'm on a 5mg DSL FIOS. I've turned off firewall, Ani-Virus and did the port thing.
It worked on desktop. Last night tried to run the Magic Wizard, could not communicate with Box.
Now here is the funny thing, this morning I tried it again and it was working, except the phone don't ring when I call myself, but the call does come in.
Will try new phone, it's a old Radio Shack phone.
I Turned firewall and Avast back on and it stil works.
I may have a problem again, but thanks everyone for your kind and thoughtful help.
I'll keep everyone posted.
Now I'm afraid to turn my computer off and see if it works, so I'll be brave and try, here I go, works when I un-plugging and plugging back in.

Update
I finally found a phone that rang, a Siemens phone 8825, then the phone started cutting out. Had to start from scratch and back system to 4 days ago and
then fix one by one problems I fixed before.
Still does not ring with any other 4 phones I have tried. So now I'm just trying to adjust the out-going voice.
When I call people they can barely hear me, tried changing volume on pc and softphone no change,
any one else have a problem with too low out-going voice and has fixed it. One thing nice about MJ is you get a new challenge to work with everyday.
I wonder why the MJ forum is still not up?, maybe they don't like to share things in the public.
