Memory issue

Hi everyone,

I watch some P2P online TV programs on my computer a lot, while my magicjack is plugged in. Whenever I run such programs, and I make calls after that, the outbound voice quality becomes very bad (the other person cannot hear me clearly on the phone). Every time this happens I have to restart my computer to solve this issue, which is quite inconvenient. My guess is that the memory is somewhat messed up by the P2P flow, is there any way to prevent this?

I don't know if there's a way to prevent it but if you have a lot of processes running on your computer this can affect the way MJ performs. You could try and forward your MJ to your cell during the p2p flow and just shutdown your MJ during this. I and what many others do is just get a cheap computer to run MJ on and keep it seperate from your main computer.

first of all i assume p2p = peer to peer. if that's the case peer to peer (p2p) consumes alot of bandwidtch and will interfere with voip traffic heavily especially if you are doing p2p protocoll type programs and voip on a dsl connection. Dsl cannot cut it handling that type load without your bandwidth usage hitting capacity.

three things you can do.

1) if you have another computer on your home network. go into your rrouter settings and go into your QOS or quality of service settings set your computer with the magic jack as high priority and the other lower priorty. This way the router will prioritize the bandwith for the magic jack that leave what's left over for your other traffic. This will slow your p2p alittle but it will help in your voip quality

2) while you are talking on your magic jack turn your p2p program off.

3) check to see if your computer is fast enough or has enough memory to handle all the applications you are asking it to run at the same time.

if it's your connection that is the problem and want to run everything you want without sacrificing anyttthing you might consider going to cable internet or fios

I have cable interenet 10mbs run mulitiple video streams p2p and magic jack and never had a hiccup.
