A friend called me on her MJ while she was on vacation in Mexico last week (using a Princess phone she took with her) -- I thought she was back home already from the voice clarity -- and now my MJ and 5-year service contract extension are on order.
A few quick questions that everybody probably learns the answer to within 5 minutes of receivng theirs:
1 - Will I be able to install my MJ on both my desktop computer and my laptop, both running Windows Vista, so that I can use it on either one? (Or is it somehow "registered" to and installable only on one computer?)
2 - Do incoming calls to the MJ ring on the computer's speaker or on the attached phone's ringer? (Or possibly both if I wanted them to?)
3 - Must I use an attached phone or headset with an RJ-11 plug, or will I be able to optionally use only the computer's speaker and microphone (my laptop has both built in)?
4 - Do outgoing calls have to be dialed on the computer (softphone) or can they be dialed from the attached phone? (Or either?)
5 - Will I be able to plug in a powered cordless phone cradle to the MJ and make/receive MJ calls from another room in our house, without going into our computer room?
6 - And finally, is it true that calls from one MJ to another MJ are always free regardless of what country either MJ is in? (Eg, from an MJ in Sweden to an MJ in Argentina?)

I will try to answer your questions in the order you stated.
Yes u can install on any pc you have.
You have your choice to have your phone ring or your pc, but not both to my knowledge.
You can use a phone cordless or corded or a headset connected to your pc.
You can dial from your phone or the pc.
I use a cordless phone and works fine as long as MJ is working that is.
You can call any MJ phone for free.

Which computer to use
While you can use any computer, consider the cost. If you keep the MJ available at all times, it can add up. I can tell you that my laptop costs less than $1.50 per month to run 24/7. But my desktop costs over $27.00 per month to run 24/7.

no Kidding! Your power company is strokin you bud! My pcs power consumption to run 24-7 is 3-4 bucks a month! I do alot big downloads and I don't use near your amount. Are you running one of those big old comptures from the 40s that filled the room? lol-that thing has some kinda big power loss somewhere.
The cost of electricity including all the additional charges piled on totals $0.0981 in my area. Just the actual electricity cost is $0.053718, but add cost recovery, distribution charge, securitization charge, and securitization tax charge per KWH to get the actual paid cost.
I do run a large cooling fan in the side of the case. I also run three lcd monitors, but they are in sleep mode after fifteen minutes of idle time. The usage was metered, so it is actual, not just a guess.
Typical computer and monitor power consumption during use - 100-200 Watts @4-8 hrs per day =12-48 KWH. When not in use (sleep/standby) consumption is, of course, much lower, very system dependent.
I've never heard of any desktop that can run 24/7 under $17.00 actual paid cost in my area, but what do i know?

John, I'm no techi and have never really had any reason to check it out but I did just now. Just to compare prices of the juice. I live in Washington State. The power cost here is 17 cents per kw hour-the standard computer takes 40 watts to run-I was told just now that to run my pc 24-7 would cost me 2-3 dollars a month-that's it. Now ,the cost here is low as compared to other areas and it's about half the price of New York, so it just depends where you are.
saxman - You are right about prices varying, it is amazing how much they can vary. I found the typical 100-200 watts by searching online and comparing different sites. It seems to be in the ballpark. 40 watts is great, but I can't get there. My laptop, however is the hot setup for me at less than $1.50 per month. Thanks for your input!
