954 Area code Active & now it's not!

Post by magnum68 »

I've had MJ since September 2007 with a 510 area code. Local calls and even calls to the Philippines are clear. Was chatting with Maggie on live chat to change it to a local area code which is 954. That are code shows that it's active on MJ's sight. Even Maggie from live chat told me it was available then all of the sudden she writes that it's not available and to check back soon. Of course I asked her how soon but she didn't have a date for that. This is a big disappointment.

magnum68,

I have asked this of other people and never really gotten a legit reason.

What difference does it make if the area code is the same as yours but the prefix in not in your dialing area it is still a long distance call. And most in state long distance calls cost more than out of state calls because the Feds can't control the price they charge for instate calls.

Why don't you see if you can get a Grand Central number more to your liking.

I don't mind the prefix, just wanted a 954 area code instead of the 510 area code. I'm dropping Vonage soon and I'm going to use MJ as my primary phone. I will use my cell phone as back up. I started to port my Vonage number to phonenumberbank.com and I'll have my calls forwarded to my MJ number until I can port it to MJ. I do have a grandcentral number but way too many calls from people looking for the person who had that number before.

Magnum, don't you still have invites left that you can use one for getting anew GC number.\?? If you gave them all out, ask someone that you gave one to and see if that person can give you one back.. It seems simple enough to do it that way, you are going to be paying $10 bucks a month for that number park deal.. If you want to be able to still get incoming calls on that number, you can check out voipvoip.com they will port your number for free and for $7 bucks a month you can receive calls.. If you need an ata for that it will cost you 40 bucks and you get to keep it and use it when MJ starts allowing the byod. if you have your own ata already (unlocked) you just start paying 7 bucks a month You also have to buy prepaid minutes of $10 but, when you cancel service (no contract) you get the unused minute money back.. That is a kick ass deal.. $3 less a month and you get to answer the call at home and use an ata..

BTW the incoming on the voipvoip.com is FREE!!

Sounds good. I'll look into it. Thanks.

I wonder if I can use my old sunrocket gizmo or Voange adapter? I'll do a search online to see if I can.
