What does AddRenewal QuickOrder Problem: K mean?

Post by lbbp »

I have been trying to renew my license for more than a week and keep getting this error code AddRenewal QuickOrder Problem: K (oracle_magicjack:live) .

There is NO information on the website, and after four contacts to the (laughable and highly incompetent) "customer care" and 17 wasted hours of my time, I still don't know what it means (oh, they don't either, by the way) I am no closer to getting my license renewed than I was more than a week ago. MagicJack has made six (6) $1.00 pings to my card, but still nothing. All I get from "Customer Care" is bullshit and that my issue "has been reported to the engineers" and is receiving "the highest priority." Their best response was "it would better if you use another credit card." As that is not an option, that doesn't help either.

As there is no number to call (am I the only person who is aware this is in violation of US Federal Law?) I am at a loss at what to do and sick and tired of waiting for nothing.

So please, if anyone knows what this means and if and how you got your issue resolved, I would be most appreciative.

magicJack will soon be in Guinness Book of Records for highest number of Better Business Bureau complaints. Is anyone surprised? I tell my friends to stay away.

For reasons I choose not to go into, I am currently trapped into the bloody thing. I wouldn't want my friends to suffer the way I do. Enemies are another story.

I am been trying to add international minutes to my account for more than 3 months now and when I contact tech support I also get the "your request if of high priority to our engineers". I have used several credit cards, mine and friends, and none of them work. Luckly for me I got Google Voice and I can make int'l calls cheaper and with very good quality. I guess mj does not want our business.

Well, I find that a bit disingenuous. Nobody is trapped into Magic Jack. There are a myriad of choices ranging from traditional land lines, cell phone subscriptions, prepaid cell phones, calling cards, competing VOIP providers, etc. MJ even allows porting out your phone number to another provider.

The fact is, you believe you are getting a better value for your dollar, and you are willing to continue to put up with its foibles in exchange.

Don't worry, we all have our complaints.

You have been blackballed by Magicjack. If your license hasn't yet expired, it will..... and you will not be able to renew. This is how they make you go away no matter what chat says.

Is there anyway to get around this other than buying magicjack at a store once a year?

Which is what I have done. So far I have no problem with them canceling my license but I get the "AddRenewal QuickOrder Problem: K (oracle_magicjack:live)" message when I try to renew or extend the license. Whenever I would talk to customer support in the past I would get sent to a higher level of support and be assure by tech support they are now fixing the issue and I would receive an email which would allow me to renew my license. Well it's been over 10 months and no emails, I would say it's never going to come.

Well, would you honestly say you're pushing the limits of "normal use" on your MJ?

If yes, there is no mystery here.

If no, then you do have an old fashioned caper on your hands, and we sympathize.

My usage is below normal, sometimes I go days without making a call. Though I did file a complaint once, It use to be if you extended your license before it expired you would lose the time remaining on the original license, they wouldn't budge on that so I filed a complaint. Shortly after that they reversed that decision for other users who had extended their license. I would like to think my complaint help others.

Even if I have to buy MJ out of a store for $40 a year and have a new number every year it's still a good deal. I'm not sure they won't let me renew online but still let me have service if I buy through retail store.

I'm thinking different computer, email, and credit card would help. If they go by your address I'm sunk, as moving is not a option.

Well, I finally got around to doing something about it. I filed a BBB complaint at http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org/ on the 18th of December. Although the BBB said I would get an official notice of the complaint within 24 hours, I never heard from them so I sent them an email on the 25th, including my original complaint. I heard from the BBB three days later, stating that my complaint had been received, processed and forwarded to MJ. I got another notice from the BBB not 24 hours later sending me to a URL which included MJ's response, which was:

>Company's Initial Response - Posted 12/28/2009
>We have reviewed the customer's account and he can now place an
>prder for the renewal. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I tried to renew today, the 30th, and it went through without a hitch. The MJ is up and running again, and they have not yet charged my card. I got an email invoice from MJ saying that my card would be charged on the 31st.

So, my suggestion to all who run into the infamous ' QuickOrder Problem: K' is this: wait a week and if you don't hear from MJ, file a complaint with the BBB.

Now that's what I'm talking about! You the man. I was thinking of doing the same, figured had nothing to lose if I had to buy MJ from a retail store every year. It's just there are so many more things I would rather be doing then filing a complaint with the BBB. One of the things I would rather do doesn't include paying $40/yr and dealing with a new phone number every year when I should be able to renew for $20/yr. If I keep getting the QuickOrder Problem: K message I will also file a complaint.
