I Chatted this morning about porting my three existing landline numbers to my three MagicJacks. Here is the discussion:

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

Chat Information You are now chatting with 'Ramona'

Chat Information Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK419086925423X

Ramona: Hello, how may I help you?

Jay: I have 3 MagicJacks. I bought them wanting to port my existing numbers. Will this ever be available?

Ramona: Hello Jay.

Ramona: Do you mean your landline number to MagicJack device?

Jay: Yes

Ramona: Please allow me to inform you that the number porting is not yet available as a feature for MagicJack, the upgrades are still on going and the time frame is not yet fixed.

Ramona: Our engineers are working on that issue as fast as possible. But as of the moment we cannot give and exact time frame of when will it be available.

Ramona: We will send emails if you have an active MagicJack however you can also check our website or you can chat us anytime for updates.

Jay: So "Sometime in 2009" is no longer the case?

Ramona: We are doing our best to make this feature this year. But as of the moment there is no exact time frame for this feature.

Jay: OK, disappointing. Bye.

Ramona: Thank you for stopping by to chat, I hope I did a good job at addressing your concerns. Please take a second to answer a one question survey about the service I provided. Please click the "close" button on the top right of this screen and the survey will appear. Thanks again!

So, it doesn't appear to be happening in 2009. I keep thinking that all MagicJack is doing is selling-selling-selling and then they will close down and skip town.

Just my opinion, but I would be willing to bet that none of the customer service reps have any more of an idea of what's going on with number porting than we do.

I'm waiting until January 1st before canceling my land-line number. If I end up doing that, the next thing I cancel will be Magic Jack when my 1-year is up...I got it for as a gift, was planning on canceling the land-line anyway and I won't be out a dime.

On the other hand, if I am able to port my number (with a ONE-TIME-FEE), I'll end up buying 2 more MJ units and all will be well.

Sorry if I wasn't clear...that's exactly what I meant. I will still use it for the next several months.
