Just about ready to order...
But first I wanted to make sure about a few things. First of all I've been a lurker here for a few weeks while browsing various threads, figured I'd do that before registering. I'll only be using MJ at home hooked to my laptop. I'm retired basically homebound and don't travel much due to disabilities etc. What I wanted to make sure of/verify is the following:
1. I'll be using this on a MacBookPro {Intel} using OS 10.5.2. I assume that MJ now works with Macs from reading some threads around here, correct?
2. At night I usually close the lid on my laptop while having it turned on thereby having it go into sleep/standby, I assume once it goes into sleep/standby even though the MJ would still be plugged in it would not work until the laptop is brought back from sleep, correct?
3. Regarding headsets, IF I go with a bluetooth headset, say Jawbone, would I have to plug a phone cord into the MJ still in order for it to work? If so I'll probably just end up getting a cheap headset such as one's I've seen mentioned around here plus ones I found on eBay last night.
I've already checked and my area code {216} is available so I should have no problems there. Also once I'm all set up how long does it take before I can start receiving calls on the new number.
Sorry for all the newbie questions. I'm real glad I found this forum on a google search!
Some background info. I have ATT DSL around 2.5 up, 411 down. Using an Apple Airport as my router, Speedstream 4100 DSL modem is connected to it so all computers on the network are running wirelessly. 3 Apple Airport Expresses are throughout the house connecting to 2 HD DVD players and one Directv HD DVR.

Just about ready to order...
1. Yes it should
2. Correct, as a matter of fact, I dont even think MJ allows your computer to go into sleep mode. I know it doesnt allow my PC to. May be different for Macs.
3. You should be able to dial directly from your laptop without plugging in a phone cord.
4. Once youre set up, you can start making and receiving calls immediately. You should see the "Ready to Call" message on the MJ screen. It all takes about 1-2 min.
Just remember, MJ is still in Beta, so you may have your share of problems here and there. Unless you really need to cut back on costs, this should not be replacing your landline or other VOIP service IMO.

No I release it won't be a replacement. I'm keeping my landline still but looking at this as a possible replacement for my cell phone. I figure this might be cheaper (if it works) than having to spend $40 a month on a T-Mobile bill. And yes I realize and fully expect growing/teething pains with MJ and thats fine with me.
Thanks for answering my questions!

Infamous-I noticed my Hibernation dosen't work now. I didn't think about that being MJ doing that. Has anyone else noticed that problem? Also, are you sure he won't need to plug the phone into the MJ even though it's Bluetooth? Does MJ support Bluetooth? Thats nice if right.infamous0913 wrote:1. Yes it should

I was thinking of a Mac Air but actually I'd be giving up too much vs. the set up I have now with my Mac Book Pro. Also there are bluetooth adapters you can purchase to get a headset working. They plug into USB ports. Luckily with my Mac I have the BT built in so no need there for an adapter.saxman wrote:Nice!-Bluetooth is the future and the future is now. Now if I only had the dough to trade in my new desktop for a bluetooth laptop. I'd like to have one of those new Macs that are about as thin as a magazine. Amazing!
