Will Magic Jack work on Windows 2000?
I have a friend wanting to sell his computer really cheap. I was thinking of picking it up to just run the Magic Jack on. The thing is it has Windows 2000. Will Magic Jack work on that? Or do I need XP?

Hey thanks for the info on Micro Xp. I had a need for something like that for another project of mine and that filled the bill.bitstopjoe wrote:From what I understand you need XP or better.
HOWEVER if you can get a copy of micro XP ( SUPER BARE BONES version of XP) MJ will work on it. I have it on a backup PC JUST for my MJ in case my main PC bites the dust..

If any one needs a copy of Micro XP and can't find a download site you have to search hard for it I have a ISO for it now.
Kind of neat nothing is installed with it heck the install didn't even put a dent in the 6gig VM ware drive I installed it on to test with. It is real bare bones.
I almost bet it could be installed on a USB thumb drive and ran.

I have tried this. MJ will not install onto a Windows 2000 system. Upon install, it detects the OS and will refuse to install if it detects Win2k or any OS other than XP, Vista or 7. Whether or not it would work on Win2k is irrelevant because it cannot be installed. Sorry, you have to upgrade.hometheaterman wrote:I have a friend wanting to sell his computer really cheap.
