Blocked Outgoing calls on New majic jack- No calls made.

I activated a new magic jack on 25th Dec09 and I have not made any calls so far. As soon as I dial a number there is a message "due to unusual call volumes on your phone, please call 214-884-5124 to receive an important update." I can receive the incoming calls though.
When I call 214-884-5124 it plays a message “the number is not in service anymore…….” And there advertisement.

I have had multiple chats with there Customer service online and they said they will speak to there supervisor and come back. So far nothing... and today 6th Jan'10, on the online chat they said t help you with your problem" and terminate the chat.

Is there any solution to this? Anyone else facing this issue?

Sounds to me as if you bought a USED one without knowing it. Maybe someone abused their calling limits and returned it to where they bought it. Then it was repackaged and lucky you bought it.
I would bring it back where you bought it and bitch like hell.

Where did you buy this magicjack??
It is possible you may have gotten a recycled MJ
If you purchased it locally, take it back for exchange
If you bought it directly from MJ, go to tech chat and escalate this issue til they replace your recycled device

Last resort, contact [email protected] with a duplicate of this post and implore him to make you whole with a replacement "virgin" device. One of his underlings will make it right.

I bought this magicjack from Best Buy, Houston while I was there for a short trip. I live in Canada and now there is no way I can go back to Best Buy, USA to return it. Is there any option left for me? What will happen if I change my number now, since I get a free number change?

It looks from the reply that my magic jack is a recycled one. If somebody would have used it and returned to Best buy, than I would be not be able to register a phone number by myself. It would have the old number which earlier user was using.
