usb hub with power supply

Post by da3950 »

my mj always shut off opnce the phone paad appears on screen... i have read in some website that it is due to low power supply form the usb on my computer... and in order that my mj could get the exact power supply.. a usb hub with power supply is needed.. is this true? a usb hub with 2000 ma power supply is what they recommend.. with this remedy.. is there a possibility that my MJ will no longer shut off.... im asking because it is an additional expense on my part buying y=the hub... just want to know... anyone here already used a usb hub with 2000ma power supply on their magic jack...

The 2000mA USB hub has 4 USB jacks, and a constant 500mA is delivered to each USB. See my post near the bottom of this page: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/mj-r ... 72-45.html

But I decided to hold off buying any USB hub or thin client. Things are happening very fast now with Magicjack's competition, and I believe Magicjack will be forced to come out with an upgrade that will make buying this extra equipment unnecessary. Check out the posts on this forum about the Nettalk TK6000, which looks like it has overcome its initial problems.

As a prelude to what I believe will be a major upgrade, Magicjack recently changed to storing customer's contact lists on its servers. Eventually all information about your setup, history, and real time calls, might be on a web page that opens automatically when you plug your magicjack into a computer that has internet. Or you might be able to decide to plug your magicjack into an optional ATA box directly attached to your router, and you could either not use a computer, or use internet on a computer to access your webpage and monitor your calls in real time. Question: Can a softphone appearing on your webpage work together with a magicjack attached to an ATA box?

I'm tapping my ruby slippers and saying: "There's no place like MJ. There's no place like MJ..."

I had the power all along.

;-)
Enjoys a daily VOIP cocktail made from:

-One shot Magic Jack
-One shot TK6000
-One shot NetTalk Duo
-Two shots Ooma (it's bigger)

Shaken, not stirred.

Google Voice is the chaser.
