ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH VOICE MAIL/PHONE DOESN'T RING

Post by litaly »

All

I am new to MAGICJACK and probably making a rookie mistake, but cannot figure out how to check voice mail NOR can I get the
incoming phone calls to ring on the phone. I see accept come up on the computer and if I select that, can pick up the phone and
receive the call ..... otherwise, no idea that I've received a call.

Outgoing seems to work just fine

Thanks for your assistance

Yes, I am having the same problem and here is the convo I just had with magicjack Tech Chat.

ME: I am sometimes getting connected to other phone numbers when I dial my magicjack number

ME: other times it just rings four times and then says "GOODBYE"

ME: I have installed magicjack on both my desktop and my laptop and it does not recievbe incoming calls on either computer

Lalie: My apologies we have issues on that today and I believe it will be fixed soon.

ME: ok so it is an issue iwth the system and not on my end correct

Lalie: Yes.

ME: no eta on when it will be fixed

Lalie: Sorry for the inconvenience.

Lalie: Yes there is no ETA for it.

Lalie: However I believe it will be fix soon.

1. To check your VM you can click the voice mail button on the soft phone or use your MJ phone to dial your own number area code included.
2. VM activation is * and the password unless you have changed it is 1234. Hit the asterisk key just as soon as you hear the VM lady start to speak then follow the prompts.
3. Have you verified that the phone you are using has a working ringer.
4. If #3 verified your phone is working correctly there are two possibilities, one is MJ often gets into a mode where people do not get incoming calls (system problem) and two is you could possible have a defective MagicJack device. But don't be too quick to assume a bad MJ. I would suggest you call tech support and report the problem a couple of times a day for a couple of days. By then they will either have their end fixed or you may really have a defective MJ device.

Hope I didn't tell you what you already knew and I hope that tech support can get you going. Don't mind the fact that the tech support people don't seem quite coherent, they do pass on the problems to people that actually know how to fix the system. It is very common to get the run-around from tech support and then mysteriously find the problem has been fixed.

Fem-On the softphone click on MENU and make sure it's set to telephone and not head phone-set the volume to 1/3 way up.-The voicemail on mine is hard to understand at times as the recordings overlap sometimes but when I have a message, I get a email that pops up to tell me. Then I dial my number, I don't use the area code, it works, and then as the woman starts talking press the star key and then enter 1234-it will give you the option to hear new and old messages or delete or make other changes. It works good but is a little hard to hear at times. Check your phone volume and try another phone and then re-install using another port. Let us know if it worked.

I've installed magicjack on two different computers and tried two different phones with it.

Same problem with incoming calls.

I've bothered the poor family that is getting my incoming calls way too much on a holiday weekend.

Outgoing calls work absolutely fine for me.

When you say you have tried two different phones, do you mean two different phone lines or just the phones themselves.? If it happens on two seperate phones on two seperate lines on two seperate computers then the problem is either the phone number or the MJ itself. I would tell tech support you need another number that works and not to try to say this is your second number. We've had this happen before and they gave the person a new number and it was like his first number so because it's never worked right for ya, it's the same. Ask the tech support people to call you to show them it won't ring and did you email that techi , who's email I gave ya?-If he don't respond right away I have another # for ya.
