using mj without computer on apple time port router

So I've been reading through the forums everywhere and I can't seem to find out how to plug my mj directly into the usb port on my apple time capsule/router and use it without a computer. Everyone say's its not possible, but the weird thing is when I was out of town I used the time capsule/router, bridged it to my wireless internet connection and plugged the mj directly into the usb and the room phone right into the mj and it worked. right like that. but when I got home my time capsule changed the settings and now I can't get it to work. Was this some fluke? Or did I randomly do something right to make it work or was it the type of room phone? Any help would kick ass!! Thnx

Not sure how your magicjack "miracle" occurred - because that's what it would have taken to make it work. The MJ hardware is a means to connect an analog phone to your computer via USB. It also provides dial tone and the "bootstrap" to download and install the softphone (where the "real" guts reside) on your XP, VISTA, Win7, or Mac machine. I don't know anything about Apple router - but if under the covers its really a Mac, then maybe that's how the miracle occurred. Otherwise, MJ only runs on XP, Vista, Win7, or Mac. No Linux, no Win2K, nothing else.

I'm not sure how it happened. I know it was more then the dial tone before I actually made a call to my family and spoke with them for about 15min. But I dont know it it matter's, it was a brand new magic jack, plugged in once the day before for about 5min, so was it old software that now updated and wount work? I guess i'll have to chalk it up to a random occurrence. Thnx for the info guys!
