Installed windows 7 had the same problem would not start and light would go out on MJ. Strange...I plugged MJ into a powered usb hub and rebooted and MJ started. I then plugged direct to a usb port and been running ever since. MJ did go down again due to a unexpected shut down and I had to reaply the same procedure.
Note that before I found this remedy I did format the MJ and reinstalled the software.

I think part of the problem for magicJack users is the ability to know and understand something about computers. It is not like plugging your telephone into a wall jack and everything is working great. My magicJack will not install automatically like it should no matter if it was on XP, Vista or Windows 7. Once I understood how to work around some computer issues, my magicJack works flawlessly 99% of the time just like a landline, and with this incredible value of paying 20 dollars a year with unlimited service in the USA. A list of things you need that is essential for magicJack.
1. Powered USB Hub ( http://www.windmilltrading.com/USBProds ... 4U2ABK.htm )
2. Hawking Broadband Booster (HBB1) ( http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/pro ... ProdID=216 )
3.If MJ does not install or start, download the MJ fix at: http://www.magicjack.com/6/fixes.asp
4. If after you downloaded the fix and MJ works but does not start when you boot your computer, add the setup file to your startup folder. Go to Windows Explorer, Make sure in Folder and Search Options you have Show Hidden Files and Folders. Go back to Windows Explorer, Local Disk C, Users, The name you put for your computer, AppData, Roaming, mjusbsp, ug00000, setup. Put the setup file in your startup folder and MJ will start when you boot to windows.
Good Luck!

I imagine it is your MJ on the CDFS that is corrupted. You may want to try and format your MJ and then do a new install on MJ to see if you can put all the spaghetti back in order. Right click on My Computer, Manage, Disk Management, right click on the magicJack drive (FAT) and click on format. One of the things is to make sure you have all of your hardware updated to the latest drivers.
corrupted
ok well we did all that and i had 7 people from the magic jack company come into my computer on livelook and do all the things your saying as soon as they see the drive corrupted they said they have to ship me a new one

Well at least you will get a new MJ that works and not a lemon. I got my magicJack back in May of 2008 and other then having some minor issues, I figured out all the things mostly from reading these forums. I have not had a Land Line phone since, but I did keep my cell phone especially when I am at work or away from home. If I am away from home for more then a day, I will usually put my MJ forwarded to my cell number. I'm in the US and my fiance is in China, and I got her an MJ with the same area code as mine, but that doesn't really matter, but what really matters is that we can talk forever, well almost for nothing. I swear the voice quality is just as good as a land line and sometimes better.
