Post by dexter4000 »

Does anyone knows what could be the problem with registering this linksys to work with MJ credentials ?
I tried pretty much all the configurations available on the internet but it still displays registration failed.

Here are some of my details.

MJ Version 1.90.529.1 - 2/18/2010
Product Name: SPA-2102
Serial Number: FM500G947768
Software Version: 5.2.10
Hardware Version: 1.2.5(a)

Current dial plan : (*xx|911|<411:18004664411>|[235678]11!|<:1773>[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0)

Below are some screenshots of my configuration.
PLEASE HELP! :?:

That method will not work anymore. Can't connect directly to proxy1.Chicago.talk4free.com

You will need to run a proxy server at your location.

Use the "Search" function. You will see that you cannot authenticate to MJ servers with SIP credentials without running a proxy server.

Is the Asterisk PBX working? If yes, did you Patch your Asterisk Server with the MJproxy?

There are a few individuals that have stated that they were able to make and receive calls via an ATA without having MJproxy running on a computer or Router. Looking at your screen shots I would make a few changes to see if it would register and make/receive calls:

a) RTP Packet Size from 0.030 to 0.020 (SIP Page)

b) Change "proxy1.Chicago.talk4free.com" to "proxy01.Chicago.talk4free.com" (Line 1)

c) Use Auth ID: no and leave Auth ID: Blank (Line 1)

d) Change "Registry Expires" to 180 and Proxy Fallback Intvl: 300 (Line 1)

e) Under NAT Settings, "NAT Mapping Enable: Yes", "NAT Keep Alive Enable: Yes"; "NAT Keep Alive Msg: 0000", NAT Keep Alive Dest: $PROXY" (Line). I could not get this to register without "0000"!!!!!

f) I did not realize that their is a new "Sip User Agent String"? I was still using the "MagicJack/1.90.521b (SJ Labs)" as oppose to "MagicJack/1.90.529a (SJ Labs)". I don't think this string is important, since I have left these two settings as default (& Blank) and the ATA Method works without this string!

g) Under Provisioning Tab, "Provision Enable: no"

It should at least register. You might not be able to make or receive calls without the MJproxy running somewhere on your LAN. I can Register to the MJ Server without MJproxy, receive incoming calls, but I unable to make outgoing calls!

Perhaps in your case, and for many others, but that blanket statement is not universally applicable....Best to try with, and, based on results, without resorting to mjmd5 proxy fix
Good Luck

Okay...my bad. You're correct somebody might be able to do, I cannot and from most everything I have read on the forum may others can't either...like the user that originally posted this.
