Are there any MJ files on the computer that are user configuarable?

Here's the problem I'm trying to solve. I've got two MJ's and two computers. For seven months, both worked perfectly on both computers.

Now since right after a recent upgrade, both work perfectly on one computer, but on the other, both have the same bug, namely I can't make an outgoing call without heavy distortion until someone calls me first. Then everything will work perfectly until my computer is rebooted, and the cycle starts all over again.

This suggests to me that something got "switched' off somewhere on the one computer. Any idea of which file I ight try to reconfigure?
