Magic Jack Stuck signing in...

Post by Foster198 »

Hi, I just bought this yesterday, installed it and registered.

Now it is stuck signing in. I cannot make any calls.

I have XP SP3.

I have tried restarting it, restarting the computer, disabling firewall and avast.

And for my convenience their website is down?

Any help out there?

Try magicJack support

Post by jackiehsu97 »

It seems with the amount of information that was provided to me, I can only provide a generic (magicJack "tech" "support") answer.

-Hello Sir, Please try formatting the magicJack device
-Hello Sir, Please try installing an update
-Hello Sir, If you live in a country blocking magicJack, then try HOTSPOTSHIELD
-Hello Sir, Please check device manager to ensure that the magicJack tigerjet drivers are up-to-date.
-Hello Sir, Please try download DIVx.

Stuck "signing in"

Post by jlb1897 »

I had exactly the same problem! Tried to troubleshoot myself for ~3 hours. Then tried "live chat" and "live look" available on the Magic Jack website - for >2 hours (four different tech support people!). At the end I was assured it was all connected - all I had to do was reboot my computer, wait 5 minutes, initialize MagicJack and it would work. Of course the tech person signed off when I rebooted and - it didn't work. I just returned the MJ today. If anyone has a reasonable suggestion I would be willing to buy another.

Somewhere in the (minimal) documentation there was a comment that in some cases it might be necessary to use a powered USB hub. Anyone have any thoughts on that? I assumed if that were the case the MJ tech support people would be able to figure that out.

When my MJ goes down...Get the MJ unplugged message, or the app closes from desktop I plug into a powered USB to start. Later I can plug back into PC and works till the next time. This happens at least twice a week.
The techs do nothing but paint by the numbers and usually waist many hours of our time.
NOTE: Their is a fix on the MJ site for being stuck on sign in, but have no idea if t will work

I would probably try a powered USB hub. It can't hurt, can it'? Keep the receipt so you can return it. Also, try formatting.

Good Luck.
