pap2: Error Message - Can't connect to login server

Post by outofthesnow »

Here's the FIX
THANKS DTM!
Unless you have installed MJMD5 in the router firmware, you have to run it on another computer within your network. The PAP2 proxy should be using that computer's IP address and not pointed directly at the talk4free proxy. MJMD5 is essentially placed in between the PAP2 and the proxy server.

If you have MJMD5 installed in your router firmware, ignore this message. If not, then that probably is why you are unable to connect.
Well that's a simple fix!!
As soon as I ran MJMD5 on my PC and pointed it to the PC it worked like a charm, now need to get the DIAL plan correct

NOTE: Need to have TWO copies of MJMD5 running, for this to work correctly.

A correct dial plan from:
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t5066.html

Code: Select all

([1235-9]11!|411S0|<:1311>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0| 1441!|1473!|1649!|1758!|1767!|1784!|1876!|1[26][68]4!|1[28]68!| 124[26]!|134[05]!|167[01]!|18[06]9!|011!)
or DTM's dial plan posted to this page down below.
FWIW - Here is my dial plan which uses Google 411 directory assistance and also calls the 911 center directly if 911 is dialed on the phone. This also defaults to your local area code if only a 7 digit number is dialed.

Code: Select all

(*xx|<911:1AAAbbbbbbb>S0|<411:18004664411>S0|[235678]11!|<:1AAA>[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0)
Replace AAA with your area code. (two occurrences above)
Replace bbbbbbb with your local 911 center direct dial number.

I will later be getting one of my wrtg54 routers to work under dd-wrt linux
http://www.dd-wrt.com/

This will allow me to run the the PAP2 without a PC!
Which is my goal.

First thank you to all who have have created the tools and the know how!

My PAP box gives me this error message
-- Can't connect to login server

Read this and tried the hints especially this one :5070
proxy01.miami.talk4free.com:5070
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t5066.html

router is set up to pass through 5070 in both UDP and TCP
Service Name *5070
Protocol TCP
Global Port Range 5070 - 5070
Base Host Port 5070

&

Service Name *sip
Protocol UDP
Global Port Range 5070 - 5070
Base Host Port 5070

Even tried a completed IP Passthrough to no avail.

Was able to get MJMD5.exe & X-Lite to work both directions.

Used this to install a version of the firm ware.
http://www.unlockmypap2.com/

config from here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/208210096/PAP2TMJ.config

used spafcon to upload the .config file

I had the same problem. This was a week ago. What I did first was update my agent string and then I tried it again. It still did not log in so then I thought my RTP300 days were over so I hooked up my Magicjack dongle (without my rtp300 plugged in) then it said "Upgrading Lucky You" and then when it was done and working I unplugged the dongle and hooked my RTP300 back up and it was working again. weird stuff but it seems like they knew my Dongle never updated and it wouldn't register with the server until it did.

line_1_proxy = proxy01.miami.talk4free.com:5070

Shouldn't this instead be pointed at the computer running MJMD5?

pap2: Error Message - Can't connect to login server

Post by madhatterm »

some of us that are running the routers and Pap2 devices don't have magic jack running on the computer there is a setting when you dump the memory that is the proxy to point to.

Help

Post by madhatterm »

Can you guys explain your setup. When I setup my PAP2 a year ago I used all the same settings you use and the info I got from dumping the sip credentials. I never ran the MJMD5 on another computer. it just work with there proxy in the PAP2. It just stop working this week. I have try to setup the MJMD5 on my computer and point it to the computer for the proxy in the PAP2 but I still get no dial tone. Can you guys give me some assistance as to what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

"Can you guys explain your setup."

Download MJMD5 and run it on a computer that is on the same network as your PAP2. MJMD5 should be pointed at the talk4free proxy you use such as proxy01.miami.talk4free.com. I prefer to use the actaul IP address of the proxy instead of the name. MJMD5 also needs your 20 character password.

The proxy setting in the PAP2 should be pointed at the IP address of the network computer running MJMD5. Something like: 192.168.1.193:5070

Everything else is normal.

FWIW - Here is my dial plan which uses Google 411 directory assistance and also calls the 911 center directly if 911 is dialed on the phone. This also defaults to your local area code if only a 7 digit number is dialed.

(*xx|<911:1AAAbbbbbbb>S0|<411:18004664411>S0|[235678]11!|<:1AAA>[2-9]xxxxxx|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|<:1>[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0)

Replace AAA with your area code. (two occurrences above)
Replace bbbbbbb with your local 911 center direct dial number.

This is a great dial plan. Just to let some people know finding the direct number to call your local 911 call center may not be easy to get. Just yesterday I spent a few hours calling local government offices and looking online and the number is unlisted in my county. When I asked the local government officials for the number they became agitated and said it's just 911. Finally I had a friend with a really old phonebook (1993) that lives out in the sticks look it up and it was listed. They must be hurting for cash and want to collect all the $ they can get their hands on (911 fees). But on a serious note to people make sure you test your 911 if you set it up yourself and make sure you remember your address.
