Trojan Horse on MJ

Post by cpa4u »

I have had my MJ for about 2 weeks. I get home last night and click on the MJ icon to make a phone call and my TrendMicro anti-virus says that it can not open due to a virus (Trojan Horse). I click to clean the file and it says that it can not do that because it is on a flashdrive and the file is read only. It tells me to delete the file. I can not do that either because all the files on the MJ are read only. The corrupt file is the autorun.exe file. I use the support chat on MJ site and the person tells me to just turn off my anti-virus. That does not sound like a smart thing to do. Anyone else here have any issues with viruses on the MJ?

I scanned my MJ with AVG 7.5 with no infections reported.

I would not be surprised if it is a false positive. Someone with norton please check and see what you get and report back.

The program will not start. What do I need to do? Turn off my a/v while I'm using the MJ?

It is a problem with TrendMicro. Find a way to set an exception, or call TrendMicro to find a way around it, or change your AV Program.

Dont change your AV program... TrendMicro is one of the best.

I don't disagree with you (even though in my personal opinion there are better). BUT if ANY AV does not allow you to run a program you want, it is time to change. Notice, changing was my last choice. (P.S. If you need to change, check out Aviria AntiVir. Free, MJ runs fine with it, and amongst the best!

When I get home tonight, I'll download one of the other free a/v programs and see if it picks up anything on a scan. If it does too, what are my options? I can not clean the file nor can I delete it. Is my MJ just worthless at that point?

Download the one I mentioned above. BUT, be sure to uninstal your old one first. You DO NOT want two running. You will be very happy with Avira's Antivir. I am a Computer Security Specialist, and I recommend this one highly!
