getting MJ dial tone after Windows 7 wakes from sleep mode

Post by speaker2112 »

Hi,

I am using magicJack with my new Win7 system. When I'm not going to use my computer for a while I usually put it in sleep mode instead of shutting it off since it's wakes up faster than cold booting.

If I have MJ running while the system sleeps, it will still be running when Win7 awakes, but I won't get any dial tone. The two removable MJ drives are still visible, but even if I restart MJ I still get no dial tone. In order to get dial tone I need to kill MJ and disconnect the drives, remove MJ from the USB port, plug it back in and then I can make and receive calls. It's inconvenient to have to do this routine each time as I put the system into sleep and wake it up several times a day and want my MJ functioning whenever Win7 is awake.

I'd REALLY like to be able to use MJ when Win7 awakes w/o having to disconnect and reconnect it each time. I did configure the USB ports to not lose power in sleep mode (in Device Manager) hoping that might help, but unfortunately that solution brought no joy.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

That's because MJ doesnt work in Sleep mode.................

It has been mentioned in this forum quite a few times.

Yeah this is the exact reason I went to a dedicated computer for MJ.

I was hoping to not have to dedicate a whole computer system to support the magicJack. Kind of defeats the costs and electricity savings a bit.

I did search before posting, but didn't see that mentioned.

Why not just put the PC into hibernate, but first forward your MJ to your cell or your landline ( if you still have one). If you do neither your calls will go to voicemail ( and email). Just remember to undo your forward after you bring your PC back up. It is pretty fast coming out of hibernate. In fact I leave open all my applications when I go into hibernate so they are all open and ready to go when I come out of it.
