Computer restarts during every MJ call

Post by Armedethos »

MJ worked fine until the trial time ended. Now during just about every call, the computer all of a sudden goes to this blue screen and then the computer restarts. Next time this happens i will write down what the screen says and i can post it if tat will help. i searched and didn't find anyone else with this problem. Any body have any clues??

much appreciated

Are you using the extension cord which came with the MJ? IF so, don't It can work and then not, causing all kinds of weird crap to happen. Also try using a rear USB port for your MJ ( yes it makes a difference).
Have you installed any new software just before this started happening? Updates ( Windows or drivers)?
I once had a wireless mouse work for a while and then I started getting BSOD, I moved it to anothe USB post and the problem went away.

Also a POWERED USB hub may help..

Hey yea i have tried all of my USB ports. I have used the extension and gone without and all seems to have the same result. I don't remember installing any new software recently. I did install AVG free trial, which has since expired.

thx for the input

To determine if the problem is the MJ or the computer - have you tried moving the MJ to a different computer? User's mileage with MJ varies greatly from computer-2-computer because of the "crap" that gets loaded on PCs.

Take the MJ over to a friend's house and give it a whirl just to determine if its a problem with the MJ or with your computer. I know its frustrating but that's the overall problem with MJ - for some folks it works great right off the rack, and for some folks it never works. But that's because MJ's operation is based on the PC or Mac that its plugged into. If the PC is a bit off kilter, there will be problems. This is why the other services (e.g., Vonage, TK6000, Ooma) are more reliable out of the box because they are hardware based and don't rely on a PC to provide service.

i have a cpu at a friends house that i will try to use MJ on. in the mean time.. i think that it is a problem with my laptop (or the settings on it). idk, but i was getting this error BCCode : 100000d1 and i searched it and someone said that it might be from a usb device conflicting with a driver or something. the only usb device i use is MJ (and my external hard drive that i haven't had any trouble with). Maybe someone knows something about this??

plus this is the message on the blue screen right before the cpu restarts. "physical memory dump. disable bios memory options such as cacheing or shadowing" technical info: ***stop:oxoooooooa etc. etc.

when i looked this up they said that it might be b/c of some newly installed software, which i would say could be MJ software b/c that is the only thing that i have installed recently and been using... i don't use my cpu for much. not much of a cpu person if u can't tell. :)
