Ok, my personal biggest beef with magicjack is the ringer... it is very loud and obnoxious. If I turn the computers volume down so the ringer is bearable, then everything else on the computer is too soft. So after much searching and trying to figure out how to deal with this I finally found an answer!
The solution is to route the ringing sound to a different audio device than the one that outputs to your speakers on the computer.
To do this, from the MagicJack control panel choose MENU then choose VOLUME/HEADSET CONTROL then click HEADSET/OTHER.
Leave the Speaker/Earpiece setting and the Microphone setting alone.
Now click on the setting for RINGING. If there is more than one choice, try all the other choices one at a time and see if that eliminates the ring on the computer. If your magicjack no longer rings on your computer but all your other sounds still work, then you are done and can stop here!
If you only have one choice, or changing to another choice does not get rid of the ring, then you need to install some kind of Virtual Audio device.

Once you install it, simply follow the steps above again, and when you get to the settings for RINGING again, there should now be a new audio device called Virtual Cable 1 ... select this and the ring should be gone!

There's actually a shortcut to do this that is not too obvious.
Right mouse click on the magicJack dialer icon (in the traybar notification area) and make sure the top menu item reads "Switch to Headset". The latter sets the magicJack dialer to telephone only mode and it will turn off the ringing that comes out of your speakers.

Yes, switching to telephone mode does work but then you can't use a headset without clicking some buttons!!
Sometimes I answer the phone but sometimes I answer with my headset instead, so I like to have both options available (note that it will automatically switch to telephone mode when you answer the phone and then automatically switches back to headset mode when you hang up).
