busy signal

Post by patpaugh »

Just tried using my magic jack for the first time. I called a few numbers but always got a busy signal, so I decided to call my regular phone and as soon as I answered a busy signal came on. has anybody experienced this before, and can it be fixed?

Had my MJ for Five days and this is the second day in a row it started to do the same thing as you describe here. I call my cell and it rings immediately but there is no ringing heard on the MJ. It gives a short busy signal and then silence. I'll be sending this thing back if it continues to have these problems.

More likely that the issues you're experiencing will go away "soon". MagicJack is working on "upgrades" for the past few days ( Mar 25/26/27/28 ) that cause issues for many MJ users in many parts of the country.

FWIW, MJ service had been quite reliable in area code 206 for the past few months prior to the recent "upgrades". I expect the issues to go away soon.

Hopefully likemagic, When it works, it's great. But not quite ready for prime time yet. I'd love to get rid of my home phone, but MJ isn't quite reliable enough. Then again, for $20/yr. what can we expect.

We can expect it to work as advertised.

For $39.95, I also expect MJ to work, but not 100% reliable like my $25/month POTS service. People always say "You get what you paid for" and in this case it's very true

It sure would be nice though, if they would do more of their upgrades overnight as not to cause all these problems for all of us. I guess if all went smooth for the MJ they would jack the rates up and it wouldn't be such a great gadget anymore.
Better to find out now because I still have 25 more days to test this thing or send it back if I'm not happy with it.
