Error 400 - Anyone else?

Post by NeO »

So I got my magic Jack yesterday... hooked it up and tested it out... worked great! Then I went and bought a new phone today, for the Magic Jack... and I keep getting a [error 400] "Please connect to the internet and double click here"

I'm a puter geek and can't for the life of me figure this out... not my area of expertise ;)

Reading on another forum it looks like there might be some TCP/IP issues? Anyone else find a fix for this error code? I already got the canned "we're sorry, please be patient... 24 - 48 hours from customer service"

Running XP Pro - did the upgrade... not sure what else to try?

Any help would be appreciated!

Best,

DB

You don't have to try too much. These days, they are updating their servers. Hopefully, everything will be okay after their updating or whatever they call it. ^_^

Error 400

Post by rjohn60 »

I'm also a new user. Plugged it in the first day, but couldn't register. Tech support said the registration server was being upgraded. Finally got registered, but couldn't get a call through. Tech support said their equipment was being upgraded. Now, since yesterday have been getting "error 400"; although, my 911 address info is displayed, so I have to be connected through the magicjack. When I try to make a call I get "trying to connect through proxy...."; then, back to "error 400". Tech support on the magicjack site has been particularly unhelpful.

I received mine today and I registered but have yet to receive an activation email, I can log into my.magicjack.com though. I'm getting a constant 400 error, live support says "engineers are upgrading servers" which I'm sure is a bunch of BS. Anyone have any solutions?

 And I was so excited... Got through to customer support and got the story about engineers doing upgrades and now the site won't even run the test anymore that was telling me it could not communicate with my new unit. Maybe tomorrow...

Hi, I just received my MJ last Saturday and set it up Last night withing half an hour. I, too, had the Error 400 when I clicked on my MJ icon to kick it off and register. I must say that it could be confusing even for an IT person like me since the documentation (or lack thereof) that came in the packaged is very MINIMAL! Any way, after working tithe the Technical Support chat person, I SUCCESSFULLY registered my MJ and all is working fine now.

In short, in my case, the cause of my Error 400 was due to my Norton Internet Security Firewall. So, when you register your MJ (to use it for the 1st time:

1) DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL!
2) double-click on the magicJack error 400 message ( displayed in the "greenish" box in the middle of the MJ soft phone panel.
3) the Registration Log-in screen will pop up: re-enter your correct email address and password and click on the "Next" button.
4) It should take a few seconds and now where it used to display the Error 400 message, it should now read "Ready to Call" and then your new MJ phone number is displayed below it.

I hope this hepls. Good luck to all! I know it could be frustrating sometimes, but technology will do that to you sometimes! :D

Oooops! Sorry for the following typos:

within (not withing)
package (not packaged)
with (not (tithe)
helps (not hepls)

Just a case of a fat finger doing its own thing!

You don't need to do another new post. Try to edit your old post first   8)

Hear, hear! I humbly confessed my sin: allowing my mouse to be quicker than my brain! :!:

Anyway, I'm very happy with my MJ so far. I'll try to set up my MJ to use it with my fax (actually my MF copier). I'll post my success (or failure) later. MJ is replacing my Vonage phone and it's going to save me $25/month!
