Post by OntarioCanada »

I Have got all my information i need from the magic jack ie; password, proxy server, and user name...

I have no problem using MJMD5 And Xlite ..everything is good, I can make and receive calls...

However when I try to put all my settings into the pap2 it dose not connect at all... am I missing something?

Are you pointing your ata to the machine you have mjmd5 running on. Also if you could provide screen shots of your settings it would be a lot easier for people to help narrow down the problem. Here are some threads that give great instructions http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t5066.html and http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/how- ... t7593.html for setting up MJ with a pap2.

it works fine when pointing at MJMD5 but I was hopping there is away to not have to have the Computer on at all ... why can't i just use the pap2 without the MJMD5 running?

That's the dial plan I am using also. You have to dial 1 and then your number.

example: 1-***-***-****

I would like to get rid of the use of 1 before my local calls but still learning how to do it.

Try this in the pap2 line 1 or 2 [advance] [halfway down]
Proxy: 192.168.x.x:5070 ----------------------- Use Outbound Proxy: YES
Outbound Proxy: 192.168.x.x:5070 ---------------- Use OB Proxy In Dialog: YES

192.168.x.x:5070 = wherever the mjproxy lives

--------------------
the best way to not need a computer is to either setup a "dd-wrt router / pap2" or a "thin client"

I think the pap2 gives much better sound.
The thin client can either have MJ dongle [usb] or run mjproxy / pap2

Is that clear as mud?
