warning you must plug your mj into usb

My MJ worked alright up to this point. When the program was loaded I got the plug your mj into usb. I did the uninstall, fixit, and upgrade, no good. Now I have nothing on my pc related to MJ. I have the mj plugged into the system, it dings to let you know you plugged something in. I have no program, no softphone, now usb showing up and I have even searched for mj. I go to device manager and I have a usb composite device with an error. I plug other devices into my usb, no problems. I also used another mj, I bought for my daughter. It does the same thing on my pc, nothing. I need some help. I hope some one here can help, because the techs at mj cant. Thank you in advance. susan

Read through the posts. Some no longer apply, as the roll back, but you may get some useful info from there.

A couple of things off the top of my head, and yes it is slippery up there
If you are using the extension cord which came with the MJ, don't. I "ASSUME" you tried another USB port ( in the rear if you can)? Also a POWERED USB hub may help.
I had an issue earlier this yr where a thumb drive started getting errors when it was being written too. It had worked fine in the past. So I tried a whole bunch of things to no avail. So then I decided to go into device manager and delete EVERYTHING in the USB section ( a tip, do the mouse last After that I plugged all my USB devies back in, including the MJ and rebooted. It reinstalled all the drivers and every thing worked just fine after that. Not saying this will fix your problem, but as a last resort it can't hurt.
I know you said you tried another MJ with the same result which tells me it has to be something on your PC.

Let us know what happens.

I found that in my computer there was phone and a cd rom. It wasnt there before. Anyways I went to device mgmt. and on device drive I deleted the mj and then went to cd and deleted mj from there. I went to the device drive again and looked for hardware change. I then went to my computer and formated the one that said phone, not quick format, made it fat, and size to default. I then downloaded the upgrade. It came up. This was not my work but someone elses. I still dont know if this will be a long term fix or not. I do know that before when i went to device mgmt, there wasnt magicjack in it at all. Thanks for helping me. I will be back to check out the other areas of this forum.

This is an older problem I've been working on. Here's a work around...

We need to start the MJ service manually:
-Go into your C: drive (or whatever your current hard disk is)
-Double click "Users"
-Double click on your account name (the one you use when logging into windows)

Once you have that open, you need to show hidden files. To do this in windows 7:
-click the key [ALT] and you see a menu bar drop down:
-Select "Tools"
-Click "folder options"
-Click the "View" tab
-Click the bubble that says "show hidden files and folders"
-Then click "OK" Down below

Now you notice more files appear.
-Find the folder that says "AppData" and double click it to open
-Double click on "Roaming" to open it
-Double click on mjusbsp to open it
-Double click on "ug00000" to open it

Now, inside the ug00000 file, you will find some magic jack files. Some even have the dial pad icon.
-Left click "Setup" and drag it onto your desktop.

From now on when your computer starts, you will need to double click the "setup" to turn on the software for your MJ service. It's a little annoying, but nothing terrible. Just a simple work around.



*If you ever run into problems where it says "you need to plug in your mj" etc, just simple unplug it from your usb port, and plug it back in.

What xamire said should work.
I had to copy that file into my start-up folder so it would boot up in windows at start-up.
Before I talked to tech support nothing would work.
