magicJack works on one of my laptops, but not the other?

Post by DrSchoen »

My new MacBook Pro had no problems at all when I installed magicJack, but when I tried to use it on my other laptop (two year old MacBook Pro) it went through the registration process, but then would stick on "Starting, please wait..." for a minute or so and then displayed "Please connect to the Internet and double click here [error 20]".

I double clicked and re-entered my address/password and this loop of errors just keeps re-occuring. I've reformatted the magicJack, uninstalled, re-installed, etc with no success. I do not have any Firewall turned on.

Help!

Why in the world would would you format the MJ when you KNOW it worked on your other Mac?? OBVIOUSLY there is nothing wrong with your MJ, duh. There must be something on your Mac which the MJ doesnt like. I would start there NOT with the MJ...

Unless I am missing something here...

It was was customer support at MJ suggested. I can see how foolish I was to accept their advice in retrospect, but the "reformatted" MJ still works perfectly on my newer laptop. I agree that there's obviously something on my older laptop causing the problem, but would appreciate any assistance as what areas of my Mac I might look at.

I formatted it one time to see what it would do....I guess thats reason enough ;-) never on a mac though.

Are you sure you don't have anything like "little snitch" installed? Also what version for OS x are you running (i.e. updated to 10.6.4)?
