No soundcard info while using MagicJack

Post by daraR »

I was wondering if someone may be able to help me. I recently bought MagicJack however have had nothing but problems. Tons of static and clicking while using a telephone and forget using the computer while on the phone. PC speakers havent worked since I installed the jack however I can hear every thing coming from my pc thru my telephone. I cant toggle between headset and telephone (which is a question I'm hearing alot lately). The tech support people told me I didnt have a soundcard on my pc because I have no options to choose a default audio device when the jack is not plugged in. Does anyone know anything about this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you shut down the PC, unplug MJ, then boot back up, do you still have no sound? If so, does your sound card appear in Device Manager? Shown as 'working properly'?

Yes, still have the problem even after re-booting. I checked all of what I think are my soundcards and all are showing they are running properly. I thought about trying to install some drivers but figured that would be a bad idea. I know at one point the tech told me to make sure I was not using USB phone by TigerJet (under the audio and voice tabs) however when MagicJack is plugged in thats exactly what it defaults to and there is no way to change it. When MagicJack is unplugged there are no devices found. Also it shows Legacy and Audio Codecs in the hardware section but I'm not sure what that is.

Do you have a little Speaker in the tray by the clock WITHOUT MJ plugged in. IF not then you probably do have a driver issue with your soundcard. If you do have the speaker by the clock and the volume isn't muted, and your speakers are turned on, make sure they are plugged into the soundcard and in the correct port in the soundcard.
