Google Voice not connecting to MagicJack

Post by NiteShdw »

I've been having a weird issue the last two days. My Google Voice numbers will not ring my MagicJack phone. If I dial the number directly, the phone rings.

I've been using Google Voice to ring my cell + MagicJack for 9 months without a problem.

Has anyone else noticed the same problem?

This does sound like a strange thing indeed.

Are you able to receive calls directly to the magicJack? (Like call your mJ from your cell...)

Have you added, and then removed the number in Google Voice settings?

I have the same setup as you, and mine is working fine!

I can receive calls directly to the MagicJack. I haven't tried to remove it and re-add it because I'm afraid that it won't make the connection and won't be able to validate it.

I have two GV numbers that ring my MJ, and neither of them will ring the phone, either by dialing the GV number or by using callback in the web interface.

This all just started happening yesterday. Someone on the GV forums said they had the same issue start at about the same time!

Oddly this issue seems to have resolved itself. No idea what happened or who's fault it was, but my MJ is now receiving calls from GV. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Having been involved "knee deep" in computers and software for over 37 years, I've learned one indisputable fact: They'll drive you crazy with their erratic behavior. Just an observation.

That's the truth. This latest update issue is small potatoes compared to the problem I had with a mainframe back in the 80's. I was goofing around, trying to impress my new girlfriend at the time, by playing an online game called "Global Thermonulcear War." Turned out to be a real hassle. In hindsight, I should've just played a nice game of chess.
Enjoys a daily VOIP cocktail made from:

-One shot Magic Jack
-One shot TK6000
-One shot NetTalk Duo
-Two shots Ooma (it's bigger)

Shaken, not stirred.

Google Voice is the chaser.
