What is this?

Post by Banna »

My MJ was connected to my XP SP2 lappy and it worked when it wanted to. After a while, we receive calls but can't hear anything but noise, same thing to the ones that we called. I thought my router had something to do with it so I unplugged it and plugged it into my PC which has Vista, did the upgrading "magicfix" and all, unplugged the thing from 3-5 seconds....restarted the PC and etc. It again gives me this error
"Please connect to the Internet, and double click here [error3]
Tech chat made me do all sort of things, different techs mind you but guess what, the same damn error.
I am thinking about Vonage now, so far this thing caused nothing but headache.
Any guru can give me a pointer? Thanks :(

By the way, here is my convo with the so called tech:

Sylvester: May I have your magic jack number please ?

Ian: 831 420 8715

Ian: I am behind a firewall, zonealarm, where can I change the ports?

Sylvester: Please contact your Internet Service provider for that.

Ian: I have the same settings on my XP laptop and the MJ worked 3 times in 2 months

Ian: I just plugged and unplugged for the 3rd time

Ian: It worked on this PC before, just not now

Ian: "waiting for proxy registration" when I try to dial on the GUI

Sylvester: Have you opened the above ports carefully.
