Can Someone Please call this number to test?

Post by saxman »

I can't get MJ to complete a call to my doctors office and need this number working. I can call other numbers with no problem-If you can call 360-514-7550 for me and let me know if you got through to the recording, that would be great. They are closed now as it's 10:30 in Wa.-thanks-other phones work fine calling them.

No trouble calling 360-514-7550 from MJ line, either with or without 1+ . It's hard to imagine what sort of issue you could be having, given that you can call other landlines with no problem, unless it's proxy specific. Which one is your account using? What happens when you try to call?

Hi Stewert,
Thanks for the test.I was up late last night working on it and got it going but for some reason I have to dial the area code, which is my area code, to get it to work. I have never had to use the area code before as we are both in the same city. Strange-any idea? When I call without the area code it rings twice then beeps twice like it's busy, then goes dead silent. So far this is the only number to do this but I'm sure there will be others.

7-digit dialing does not work correctly on MJ, because some (though not all) of the route selection is done before your local area code gets prepended to the dialed number. In this case, the 514 looks like a Montreal area code and the server is IMO trying to send the call to their Canadian carrier. Of course, it can't complete because there aren't enough digits.

Testing from an MJ line with 415 area code, I can dial 415-421-0020 or 415-514-0020 with no problem (both are milliwatt test tones in San Francisco). However, although 421-0020 works fine, 514-0020 gives a brief ring followed by a busy signal; SIP response is 480 Temporarily Unavailable.

Yeah this was a surprise to me when I got mine. I have yet to see any documentation anywhere telling the customer they need to adapt to using 10digit dialing.... Its not intuitive for the average person to know this.

Anywho........ thats the way it is.

Thanks for the info Stewert. This is the first time I've had it happen with a local number. I wonder if the big man know's this? May be time to tell him as I don't think they had this set up to run that way. Just one more glitch in this thing that needs to be worked on. I just sent an email to Dan to ask if this will be fixed anytime "soon". I'll let ya know. thanks again-

he knows... he relayed my email to Mike who is his technical guy.... he confirmed that due to the way the network works sometimes you could be required to use 10 digit dialing, sometimes not. They are currently supporting 10 digit dialing only.
