I think that was my last time telling someone to do a search. It would be nice if they were just ignored by everyone and then realize, when no one replies to them, HEY mabye I should do a search to see if I am the ONLY one having this problem.. Heck even if there was a BIG banner on top of this forum saying PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE POSTING AS YOU ARE NOT ALONE, it still wouldn't work... Sigh..tsmith wrote:Like we used to say in the "old days": RTFM!

It is always quicker to search and get an answer in 5 minutes than spend 10 minutes composing a post, wait half a day for results. Probably everyone knows this except the elderly, or other special needs people. This is 2010, not 1999.
I can assure you I first did a http://74.125.45.100/search?hl=en&safe= ... =&gs_rfai=
and then, a quick scan of first page of help and trick forum--where I didn't see anything that matched my problem, at least in expected way and phrasing.
Where you can see this is only recent thread that matches. Some times you need the perfect phrase to get results. We figure if you don't get a hit in first ten minutes, then take advantage of the meaning, "forum".
I think you would get better results being polite. Certainly gaining nothing the other way, only making your self look like you never asked a question, which we all know isn't true.

Anyways not just searching but looking helps toodegarb wrote:It is always quicker to search and get an answer in 5 minutes than spend 10 minutes composing a post, wait half a day for results. Probably everyone knows this except the elderly, or other special needs people. This is 2010, not 1999.

Been attempting to limit myself to 5 minutes a day internet or every other day, if I can control myself. I work for a living--in a busy time of year for me-- and have a family.
However, It seems to me that if passwords are rotating, couldn't we just write an application to allow mj startup, read password, then kill mj.exe (or hide and paralyze it. then use the credentials in mjmd5.
This would allow mj its splash ads, which I don't mind. Then, allow us a clear call with less delay. Though, I went ata primarily because every 3 month some update would come down that would render the dongle and service useless. Also, my first dongle burnt out after only 13 months of continuous use. This cost me about and extra hidden $40 a year.

The issue with your thought is that upon the exit of the jack it sends basically a reset request to force the password to change. You would need to figure the algorithm to guess the next password and use the next password.degarb wrote:Been attempting to limit myself to 5 minutes a day internet or every other day, if I can control myself. Well, if the algorithm cannot be cracked, then, why not force the magicjack.exe through some proxy to get to Internet. This proxy could act as a switch to route the traffic to the ata ala mjmd5-allowing magicjack.exe to keep running and wait for traffic that will never come, as it would now be routed to the ata.
Then, I could use trick to run magicjack.exe without burning up my dongle by constantly running it. Yes, we would still see the magic jack window and ads on start up, which is no big deal and only fair to mj. But would also get clear quality of the ata. Another downside is the crappy updates that have interupted service, but they would less likely kill our phone service with this setup.
Likely, such a proxy would need to be an http proxy too (autoconfiguration hell). But there are open source proxies out there like 3proxy.ru .

Isn't this a moot point. MJ reversed the rotating passwords, let's just hope they won't be back. On the other hand who knows if a possible future change will actually be this solution. MJ must have reversed it because it created too many issues, or didn't really work...

I got new password for both my MJ's, but only one changed user to Exx02. I have not heard anything about encryption of pw.
For retrieval I used MJSipac, the Exx02 was the only thing not found, but by trial and error... though not to hard with only one step to go:) This is most likely due to a coding issue, I would guess it's pre-coded to find Exx01.
