I use an ATA that does basically the same thing that magicringforever does and forwards the magicjack number back to itself to keep it ringing long enough for an external voicemail to pick it up.
After the latest update and after i retrieved the new password, people call my MJ number and when my ATA tries to forward the call back to itself, the caller gets the message "Thank you for calling magicjack, the number you have dialed is not currently a working number..."
Am I the only person in the world that's getting this error and is this a new error? Is it the fault of my ATA, the fault of the forwarding process such as ringforever does, or something totally different?
The message generates at the point that the callforwarding occurs, be it 6 seconds or 16 seconds. I've played around a half dozen times with the delay.

The ability to create a call forwarding loop back to yourself was internally disabled by magicJack in their new dialer upgrade. They also disabled it at the network level and that is the problem you are facing.
In regards to MagicRingForever, a replacement upgrade is being developed from scratch based on a similar requirement specification as detailed in this previous forum thread http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/news ... t9687.html .
MagicRingForever Release 2 should be available by the end of this month.

Has anyone out there figured out a workaround for those of us that use ATAs?.
In addition to being poorly designed, in many cases MJ's voicemail feature activates too quickly to be able to answer the phone. I'd really hate to be forced to relay on MJ voicemail.
It appears that the creators of MJ actually go out of their way to make MJ inferior to analog phone providers and other VoIP solutions alike.

When someone calls me, they get the message "Thank you for calling magicjack, the number you have dialed is not currently a working number..." at the point it forwards. In that post, they state that looping calls was blocked on the network level and I believe that is what I was running into.
I tried it once again after seeing your post and now it "magically" seems to work.
I'm attributing my problem to MJ changing something on their servers, having trouble with it and changing it back.
