Well, I knew it would happen--The dog walked too close, wagged his tail, and mj snapped off, leaving the plug in the usb socket. This turned out to be a fortunate occurance. My fear was that when it happened that the usb socket would be damaged, but it seems that the mj was the weak link.
I had problems with mj working loose from the little extension cord provided, so I had to plug it directly into the laptop in order to maintain a conection.
With the plug broken off, I had no choice but to make a mod, as I was foolisly expecting a important call and had to be back online forthwith.
I cut the cord from an old mouse that my wife had been bugging me to throw away, and soldered it to where the plug used to be. A quick check with a jewelers loupe to verify the absence of any solder bridge, boot up, and seconds later the phone rings.
Mj now resides out of the way with my power supply, the lines married with a little Scotchtape to prevent tangles. Untill I can find a free ATA to hack, this is a much more suitable arrangement. Do you suppose I may have voided my warrenty?

Does anyone else take Magicjack in with your laptop case like I do?
I had trouble figuring out what kind of phone to pop into my laptop case so I could use it in hotel rooms, too, without having to use the hotel's phone with M/J. Sometimes they didn't work and I'd like to have my own phone just for Magicjack.
I did some searching and found a nice, tiny little flip phone specifically for Magicjack in that it's tiny and fits nicely in my laptop case. It was at www.MagicVoicePhone.com. They also have a cheap little cordless phone and base there that I've put at my home workstation. I can use MagicJack with this little cordless phone and I'm no longer tethered to my workstation!
I love my MagicJack..I think it's a great invention. I've even used my magicjack and laptop outside a coffeeshop using their WiFi. I was in my car and it still worked 100%!
