Hi fast eddy,
Here's a thread that discusses phone companies blocking calls from MagicJacks to their local service areas.

I've been following that thread closely - and to save you some reading (although, it is worth reading) - I'll just tell you that a few days ago it was reported that all of Alaska IS being blocked.

To call the blocked area codes, set up a google voice account ("GV"). Use your MJ to call the GV, and then call the number you want to contact. Another poster suggested this several weeks ago and it works.
