I don't have a Windows machine available and need to register my MJ+. It works when I plug it into the wall, I get a dial tone, found the # by calling my cell phone, but can't register MJ+ without Windoze. Heellpp! Wink

Really want this to work, I've heard good things, and now I just want to use it with no fuss.

I know it's a pain in the rear but you could access their MJ chat support with your browser, Firefox, Chrome, or whatever else you're using. Here's the link, but you have to go through the motions of doing an answer search before you get the opportunity to chat:
http://magicjack.com/customercare.asp

Once you get an agent, try to play the dumb "I just bought into the hype" card, letting the agent know that you never knew that Windows would be required for the registration process ... prompting you to inquire if the registration can't be completed online with the support people instead? Heck, since you already have the dialtone which indicates that your MJ is probably working fine, perhaps the registration can be done Online too? Doesn't hurt to try ....
Good luck, and come back to let us know how it went.

Yeah, that was posted in NOVEMBER...

It's important to read the posted date when replying so that you're not just making an ego post...like yours.

Also, your hilarious advice would be the first thing that anyone with 2 firing synapses would try. And no, it doesn't work.

Thanks!

Umh, pardon the heck out of me, but over 20 years Online and as a member on several forums I've come to learn that if an actual solution hasn't been posted and if the thread isn't outdated i.e. with hardware that most people would not own anymore, then any answer may still prove to be relevant anyway ... if not for you then perhaps for someone else !!! Or is your own ego so large that you actually believe each forum answer is strictly and only meant for that one person who started the thread?

Forum threads are for everyone, even the general public, and not just the person who started the thread. Three months ago may be outdated to you, but what about the next person with a similar question tomorrow, or next week or next month ... who happens to find and look at your thread from back in November ??? And for your information, I know plenty of people who actually loathe chat support. Anybody in that group would obviously not be included in your "anyone with 2 fingers" response. You know it's not nice to ASSume because ASSumptions are for ... right?
Geez, some people just have too much time for nothing on their hands ... so much for actually trying to be helpful.

I agree 100% WinRiddance as one never knows when a post will help someone, but the first clue to me was when he spelled it WINDOZE.. Kinda gives it away, for me anyway. I tend to ignore people like that.

Just my 2 cents and I can't wait for his "intelligent" respose, should I ASSume what it will be? Smile Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, this is the Linux section of the forum, isn't it? Which might imply that those who post here aren't the biggest fans of Mr Gates and his operating systems.

However, I can't understand why MJ+ couldn't do their registration process online and not OS dependent, like the NetTalk Duo, for example. Most of the people who wouldn't buy the original MagicJack, or initially bought one and then let it collect dust were likely Linux users who had no use for a device that required Windows. There's no reason why the MJ+ should need it at all.

PostPosted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:36 pm    Post subject: Your pitiful response

You've been online for over 20 years. How tragic. And you're still offended that someone posts a snarky reply to your ridiculously inane post.

Perhaps you should try getting OFFline for a bit and notice that there's a real world beyond the internet.

Seriously, if you're offended, then my work here is done. If your self-worth is so low as to take offense, I'd suggest suicide. The simple fact that you would no longer pose a threat to the gene pool would make that particular Darwinian selection even more apropos. Let me know the date; I have a wonderful bottle of Cristal waiting for such an event.

Also, if you're going to quote someone, learn to use a dictionary. They're available online, and they're free. What I wrote was "...two firing synapses". Your ill-worded response does more to prove that you're one shy of that than anything I could say.

You illuminate your low IQ by your failure to grasp the simple fact that those of us who use operating systems which don't fold and fail the way Microphallic's does often refer to their abortion as "Windoze".

Get back to me when you've re-greased your mullet; you've got flyaways.

I will assume, for the sake of argument, that your classless arrogance is not representative of Linux users.

Wishing someone would commit suicide because you don't like their post? I seriously feel sorry for you. I suppose you could get less classless than that, although I'm not sure how. But I am sure you will give it a good try.

But what REALLY confuses me is why someone of your obvious superior intellect needed help with such a simple basic device as magicJack in the first place? But even that ignores the very basic question of why someone who is so smart, and thinks Windoze is such an inferior product, would settle for what is generally agreed by most "experts" to be the most inferior VOIP device out there, the magicCrap?

Just for the sake of clarification ... Razz

There's a reason why my user name is WinRiddance and why I'm responding in the Linux section of this forum. That's because I dumped Windows completely, having gotten into Linux about 4 years ago. And yeah, after learning how much more can be accomplished so much faster with Linux, the name of "that other OS" effectively turned into Windoze for me. Compared to Linux it's like falling asleep behind the wheel, hence the more than appropriate Windoze reference. Although, Winblows seems appropriate too, doesn't it?

BTW, nothing wrong at all with mullets. My wife wanted to marry a long haired rocker back in '96 and that's what she got. Now it's 2012 and the hair's still half way down my back. Hey, FreeRangeRadical ... I feel sorry for you, I really do. You are one screwed up kid ... !!!

When you invent your own VOIP you have it register however you wish.

@winriddance: Given your pedantic rambling and false assumptions, I feel sorry for your wife. She must truly be a saint to deal with you.

@bitstopjoe: I don't see your name associated with MJ ownership, so until such time, I'll post here as I see fit. Mainly to piss you off, and since you're so thin-skinned, it's easier than taking candy from a moron...like you.

Also, I bought a MJ just like you did, ergo I have as much right to post in the fora as you do. Like it or not, I don't give a either way.

Never said for you not to post, no one did so learn how to read. Besides it is always good to see what the blowhards have to say.
All I said is feel free to invent your own VOIP device and then choose what OS to register it with since you don't like the way MJ does things.
Maybe I will type slower the next time so you can understand what I wrote.
Oh and on a side note, the fact that you tell someone to commit suicide as a joke?? Tells me all I need to know about you. Real low class who thinks the world owes him everything. When suicide affects your life as it has mine?? Then lets see if you find it funny..ok? I wouldn't even wish that on an ass such as yourself.
So post away dip-$hit. Thin skinned I am not, a moron I am not and the crap you post only reflects on you..
Have fun...

Your lack of erudition speaks volumes about your (clearly) public education. Your mass assumptions also point to a lack of critical thinking skills. As for blowhards, I think you fail to understand the term; this post concerned you in no way until you stuck your nose into it, ergo that would indicate you to be the blowhard.

So please, do the rest of us a favor and continue. I'm sure that, ascribing your punditry to the 'room full of monkeys' scenario, you'll eventually post something of value. Although I wouldn't bet on it.

Also, as both of you have incorrectly postulated, I own my own quite successful business as a freelance technical imager specializing in aerospace and defense work. I'd guess that you have no clue what that means, so I'll use the simplistic term "photographer".

By the way, do either of you EVER form conclusions based on critical thinking, or do both of you always jump to irrational and false conclusions? You know, success in entrepreneurship is wholly grounded in the ability to think critically, something neither of you do, and doubtfully can.

I guess it really is true you can't fix stupid. My condolences.

I didnt realize in your world one can't post to agree with someone else, my mistake.

I refuse to lower myself your level any longer and just go back helping people on here if and when I can. Post all the retorts you wish as I will just ignore them and you from this point on.

On a final note, take a photo of yourself and make out with it...

So why didn't you think "critically" and just register your MJPlus on a friends computer? I know your initial post said "I don't have a Windows machine available". But you seriously don't know anyone with a desktop or laptop with Windoze on it? Or is it more a situation that someone with your arrogance and obvious TOTAL lack of class has no friends left?

PostPosted: Thu Feb 09, 2012 3:56 pm    Post subject: FreeRangeRadical, the true guiding light of this Universe!

Alright, I really don't have the time for these silly bits of entertainment but since FreeRangeRadical is clearly out to ridicule himself by bragging about his own inept ability to use proper verbage of the English language, I do feel the need one last time to help this poor demented, misguided, soul ... to prevent him from ridiculing himself any further. I pray, may the Internet with Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines help you find the educational resources needed, to guide you back on the correct path of proper wisdom. This being said ...

Quote:
Webster's Definition of ERUDITION
extensive knowledge acquired chiefly from books : profound, recondite, or bookish learning

Regarding your comments to bitstopjoe ... "Your lack of erudition" ... please be so kind as to point out the specific sentences within the posts which brought you to that conclusion.

Quote:
MASS - Synonym:
heap - multitude - crowd - bulk - pile - lump, or as an adjective. massive - wholesale

Your usage of "Mass Assumptions" ... It is impossible to have "MASS" of assumptions that can be derived from one and the same thread, covering the same subject matter. As a matter of fact, as far as these posts are concerned, I don't see where you can have more than one, two, perhaps three assumptions at best. So declaring the existence of a mass within just 1 or 2 brief posts clearly shows your lack of ability to even understand the simplest words, short little 4 letter words with very basic meanings. I can not comment often enough on the sorrow & pity I feel in my heart, for someone who so wantonly uses bad language while ASSuming that all's well. Is there truly no one in your life who can help you with these issues? Have you truly caused everyone to abandon you, to flee your presence, hoping never to put up with your rambling, meaningless diatribes any further? Other than to have fun as I'm doing right now, does anyone in your life take you serious or listen to any of the fecal matter that you produce with your fingertips?

Quote:
lack of Critical thinking skills

... was also mentioned in your comments. Albeit, those are indeed required when using computers, signing up on forums, and making decisions based on the ignorant ramblings of others such as yourself. For example, after reading your intellectual comic book nonsense I had to go take a crap and think critically about the desire to respond to your misuse of the English language. My pity for your stupidity won me over, so here I am once again.

Quote:
BLOW-HARD as a Noun: A person who blusters and boasts in an unpleasant way.
Or as a Synonym: braggart - boaster

That, my college educated masters degree holding, doctor, lawyer, and professor friend really describes you to a tee now, doesn't it. Oh, especially that bit about photography. Good one that was indeed. So we all know you are, but what are we?

Quote:
ascribing your punditry

That does not even make the tiniest bit of sense when used closely together in the same sentence.

To your credit though, you had me laughing out loud after I read your lopsided greasy baloney. Seriously, it's been a long time since someone's been able to make me laugh like that. But hey, you know what? I finally figured it out, yes indeedy I most certainly did. As gosh awesome intelligent as you are you must clearly be a UNIX user. Windoze, Linux, and Mac are totally beneath you. So you found this forum where you had your own attention drawn to some dumb asses with such inferior intellect, that you decided to present your own private form of punishment here, by playing with them by behaving like a clown, a jester, a carnival funhouse figure. All along you've been planning to keep us non UNIX users busy, enthralled & pre-occupied by your intellect, causing us to be in such awe of your greatness over a prolonged period of time, or at least long enough until it caused the imbeciles here to be fired from their day jobs. Wow, how cunning, the sheer genius of it, you're truly the great one, to be admired for your wisdom, your planning, and your preconceived notions of proper guidance for others.

Too bad none of that worked, huh?

Again nice job, and good job in taking the time to reply to a November post which may help others. After all that is what this fourm is all about...
