Will this work?

Dear Forum:

I have 2 MJ's, one each on seperate machines.

If I were to connect each MJ's RJ11 cable to a 2-into-1 coupler, then connect a phone to the other end. Will I be able to receive incoming calls made to either of the two phone numbers?

Wouldn't a 2 line phone acomplish the same thing? 2 line cordless even better.
I think you might need this from Radio Shack to do what you want.

Thanks Joe,
I wasn't being completely upfront. The 'phone to the other end' would be all the phones in the house.
I'm in the transition period between an old New York phone number and my new Georgia number so I wanted to have the house phones ring with either of the numbers.
Do you think there's any risk of 'bricking' the MJ's by hooking them up like that?

Why not have your NY MJ # forward to your GA MJ #? This way whomever calls you, one phone will ring and if that MJ is connected to your house line ( AFTER disconnecting the bell line outside first of course) all your house phones will ring, PROVIDING your USB has enough power. So I suggest a POWERED usb hub just to be safe.
Also that Radio Shack splitter would work too. Plug it into your house jack, plug one MJ into L1 and the other into L2 and you should be ok. I am NOT sure what would happen if you got a call on both lines at the same time. I dont think what you want to do with a regular splitter will work for the reasons you gave.

Hi Joe,

I just tried it out, forwarding the one MJ number to the other works fine.

Here I though I was being all mad phone scientist, hooking up two MJ's to one phone system and you go and get all logical on me and suggest just forwarding the number - grasshopper indeed.
