My first MJ was a bad unit; wouldn't dial out on a handest.

Iordered another and it worked fine out of the box; and when a replacement came for the bad unit, it too worked fine out of the box.

If you get a bad one - just be prepared to burn up some time with CS before they give you an RMA number.

As an update to my problems - I received a new unit today and everything works great.

So it seems my bitchey, whiney comments were not unfounded.

And yes, the 411 still sux

I received another unit today; plugged it in and everythig works great. Yeah

It's your MagicJack. I had the same problem. The phone worked for 2 months. Then all of a sudden I couldn't dial out. The MagicJack support told me it was my phone and I needed to buy a compatible model.
They provided me a list of compatible phones, so I went out and bought one. Still the same ...

They never got back to me on my issue. I'll chat em up again today.

In the meantime, I ordered another unit, so we should be able to tell whether this is a computer issue; or a device issue. If the new one fores right up - then I think we have an answer

It might not be important to either of you, but to me it is...and is in fact one of the reasons I am exploring this little device.

Lucky me....my exact problem too.

In my case, I can start with the softphone dial and finish with the regular phone keypad - but after it connects to the number called immediately hans up. Softphone dial to same number stays connected.

Any resolution/updates to this problem???

forgot to add - good dialtone on all computers and phones

So I spent 2.5 hours chatting with CS this morning to no avail.

I received my MJ; it took the download fine and everything else - but it won't let me dial out using a regular phone keypad. I can dial out on the soft phone, and pick up the regualr phone receiver and talk that way; but it won't allow ...

Fair enough.

And hopefully I won't cancel, I'm still willing to work it out.

The try it free sounds as though it might not be the case - but time will tell.

People sign up for different reasons and purposes. Some like the free calls, others VM, and yet other for the spoofing. Since I make many 411 calls a day, and free 411 is advertised as one of the features, I signed up. BTW, i signed up for the 5 yr plan, so it's not the $40 you keep talking about ...

Then don't drop your land line provider...problem solved.

What do you want for $40?

Lower your expectation and you satisfaction will rise ;)

You are not entitled to free communication tech....want a problem free experience (which is a fallacy btw) pay big bucks for a major provider service and ...
