Free or cheap voip still exists. Google Voice, NetTalk etc...

MJ isnt over - they just thwarted most people's use of ata. Which made a lot of people jump ship and rely heavier on the two providers I just mentioned
No thanks on Google voice. They steal enough info from your email and browsing ...

I haven't had any luck after their "upgrade" which seems to have changed the login hashing. I am for one not going to trunk via a zaptel interface so I will bite the bullet and enable long distance though my local voip service broadvoice.

The world of free or cheap and open voip is drawing to the ...

Well I took the drive from the Linux mjproxy to recompiling the sip module for my version of asterisk and it works great. Thank you for providing the patched code to handle the authentication of the MJ account. Thats one less piece of software that I need to run on my PBX.

If anyone is interested I ...

Is there any way the moderator of this site could make this thread "sticky" or consolidate the information of this thead with the ATA thread? I hate to see this information roll off the first page since it contains the information on the proxy and how to use it in routers, pbx's, etc.

Re: does this work with asterisk

kingmony wrote:has any one got this to work with asterisk?
Yes I have it working with asterisk. I did it first with the .NET code on a PC as the proxy then I used the source code provided in the other forum, compiled and have the proxy loaded locally on my asterisk box. So far I haven't had any problem with it.

Ok, here's the plain C version of the simple MJ proxy:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/yzwmjzotmyy/mjproxy.c.tar.gz .
It works exactly the same as the az1324's app - the only difference is that it doesn't need mono to run on Linux - can be compiled for [almost] any linux distribution, including ...

Thanks rusabus,

So far I have reinstated by magicJack trunk in Trixbox but pointed it do my PC running the .net proxy for now. I didn't want to play around with mono yet. Also there is someone else here that looks like they are compiling C code native for linux which would remove the need for mono ...

rusabus,

Do you know if mono will run under CentOS?

I checked the yum respositories for trixbox which is centos based and came up with these:

mod_mono.i386 1.2.1-1.el5.centos extras
mono-basic.i386 1.0.6-1.el5.rf rpmforge
mono-complete.i386 1.0.6-1.el5.rf rpmforge
mono-core.i386 1.2.4-2.el5 ...

I have a simular experiance with a number I call here in Illinois. Usually is works but every couple of days I get a message that the line is out of service. But If I call it from my cell or my other VoIP provider it works fine. Its has to be based on a signal from the land line provider or switch.

I am dead too. PBX stopped registering with MJ around 9:30 PM CDT. Work up with morning with no work MJ for outbound or inbound and the PBX reports SIP registration failure.

I plugged in my MJ to get the software update and exacted the new credentials, put them into my Asterisk config and didn't ...
