I found the problem. In my router, SIP (Session Initiation Protocol" is firewalled. I had to UNCHECK the SIP box. That fixed the problem.
Please note that there is also a "SPI" box. Don't confuse SIP with SPI.

When I plug my MJ+ directly into my modem the dropped audio problem disappears.
Per your advice, I updated my router DLINK DIR 655 firmware from V1.21 to V1.35NA.
Unfortunately the dropped audio problem still exists.
But now I know where to focus to fix the problem.

Whenever the called party answers, the audio stops for 2 seconds. Thus I do not hear the "Hello, this is..".
