HAPPINESS is when 'No Audio Devices Are Found, etc Gone

Relax Gentlemen the fun is still here. :D
By Ifugao
1. remove 0.0.0.0 upgrade.talk4free.com
2. run magicjack wait till it upgrades itself to the dreaded ver. 180.,,,,,
3. go to registry under talk4free. Expand USB softphone if API is missing,
expand Audio Preferences you'll see MSG711A, MSG711U, however the
SJiLBC020, SJiLBC30(mj) are missing you need to download DirectX SP36531.exe. After downloading DirectX go back check the registry, all the missing API, Codecs are now there. At this point you can install MagicJack but still the NO Audio Devices, etc is still there.
Now go back to the registry and expand Options click on Audio and look to the right side of the screen. You should see 1. Audio Playback REZ_SZ USB\VID_06...........Audio Recording REZ_SZ USB\VID 06.......... Audio Ringing REZ_SZ USB\VID_06.... Of course you will not see these because ALi M5455 Audio Controller does not have a driver.
4. Now go to Control Panel, double click on "Sounds And Audio Devices"
click on "Hardware" double click on Ali M5455 Audio Controler . Click on "Driver" tab. Click on "Update Drive" on Hardware Update Wizard, click "no, not this time". Click Next. Click on Install from a list of location(Advance).
Click Next. Click on Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. Click Next. Click on "Ali M5455 Audio Controller. Go back on Hardware Tab and now you can see "YMAX MagicJack USB Device" above them all. Now Install your MagicJack and let it upgrade itself and wait for the registration to show and enter your particulars. There are still a lot of HP Thin Client at Ebay and I think the prices have drop down. I wonder why. It will probably pick up again. Oh, before I forget don't forget to "COMMIT'.

Since I already had installed DirectX 9.0C I decided to start at step 4. (deleted 0.0.0.0.upgrade.talk4free.com first)

YMAX MagicJack USB Device was already there. So I decided to reboot and let MagicJack update figuring I had nothing to lose. It went through the "lucky you" and started up. I didn't get the NO AUDIO DEVICES FOUND so I checked magicjackloader.exe and magicjack.exe versions and I'm running 1,80,441,1.
I don't know why this didn't work Friday when I installed Directx but I can say that I am running the latest version on my T5700!! The phone dials out and receives calls.

Hi all,

I also have a 5700, loaded Directx, but find no Ali M5455 Audio Controller in Sounds And Audio Devices, but I do have YMAX MagicJack USB Device. Of course I am getting the no audio message and nothing works. Thoughts?

Bill,

I was in the same boat as you Almost. I had tried loading an audio update and think I whacked the process so I am reflashing will let you guys know in about a half hour or so.

@ Lyman I think on the 5700 it is a different sound card just follow the steps and select your sound card. I am sure Bill will tell you what the name is here in a moment.

This is all weird....I didn't have the Ali M5455 Audio Controller either but had the YMAX MagicJack USB Device. I figured since that was there already I'd reboot and let it upgrade. I was 99% sure the no audio devices would come back but NO. I have no idea right now why this is working but it is...

DirectX is Microsoft's media driver architecture. It primarily tends to be used for games, but it has lots of other uses as well. Even IE uses it for effects rendering.

Hi,

That is great news... a working solution.

Question: Does anyone know how to install the DirectX update without having to upgrade the TC's memory? Or is a memory upgrade an essential need now.

I have a TC 512/256

Thanks in advance.

Blessings

From what you are stating I get the impression that after you installed the DirectX API -- at first -- you then:

did not Commit and Reboot your TC so on your First try the DirectX API install did not seem to help --- BUT after reading ifugao post You then decided to adjust the Hosts file removing the entry that prevented MJ from upgrading the software then you did a COMMIT forcing a Reboot and after the system restarted [rebooted] magicJack worked to your satisfaction. Is this correct?

In other words you did not in fact have to re-install the drivers as suggested by ifugao -- you simply adjusted your Hosts file then did a COMMIT/REBOOT and that the trick for you ?

If true, this makes a lot more sense to me from a magicJack transparency perspective and its utilization on a TC.

I had tried numerous times that day with a few different ideas. I may have forgotten to COMMIT which makes sense.

Looks like you just have to install DirectX and Commit, reboot, force update and you should be good to go....

That's great Bill, thank you for confirming the steps.

So just as a reminder for all others reading this thread -- the pre-requisite is:

For the HP Thin Client [T5700, T5710, T5720, T5730] -- A minimum of [a] 512MB of Flash ROM, 512MB of RAM to install DirectX version 9.0C Rev. B (28 Feb 2008) API --- after installing the DirectX API you COMMIT, REBOOT then force an update.

The Hosts file only needs to be adjusted IF the original Hosts file was changed to prevent software updates from taking place.

Lymon,

Me too, I haven't done so many commits since I gave up marring women. This is starting to be a royal pain in the behind. I have also tried it on other flavors of Thin Clients with the same results. Hmmm isn't that the definition of insanity. Oh-well.

Did you adjust your Hosts file to remove the entry that prevents updates from taking place?
Did You install DirectX version 9.0C Rev. B (28 Feb 2008)?
Did You force the update after COMMIT and REBOOT?

After installing DirectX, did you go into the device manager and update/refresh the drivers for the Ali audio device? I think this was the step that made mine start working.

Yes, just find the '3084' upgrade and execute. Make sure to FLUSH the cache for your system. After you force the upgrade then COMMIT and REBOOT.

George, if this does not work then it is my opinion that one of the needed drivers is not loading properly or failing to load due to some interference from some installed app like a messenger type app ICU etc. There may be a conflict. I would make sure that your TC is absolutely bare bones regardless of the fact that you may have tons of memory --- for example I would not load Java because Java can cause the kind of issue like this. Install Java after you get everything to work.

BTW, I am having a devil of a time with this BB .... it takes forever to do anything here [like post a message etc.] for some reason.

FYI, the following is the list of drivers for the 2 Primary systems that magicJack relies on to work

[Primary System 1] YMAX MagicJack USB Device

This one loads 5 drivers:
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\imapi.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\PxHelp20.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\redbook.sys
\Windows\System32\storprop.dll

[Primary System 2] USB Internet Phone by TigerJet
This one loads 8 drivers:
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\dmk.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\ks.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\portcls.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\stream.sys
\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\usbaudio.sys
\Windows\System32\ksproxy.ax
\Windows\System32\ksuser.dll
\Windows\System32\wdmaud.drv

I am just about caught up with my email and Mommy Do's so I will be back on the never ending update problem in a little bit.

lymon,

I don't know if you made it work or you have just given up ... what?

But you sound a little close to losing it emotionally that is.

If yours is still not working neither is mine. I am going to do one more clean install and if it doesn't work this time I am going to take a leisurely trip to the garage and come back with a hammer. I will then reboot it one more time and if it still doesn't work... the next step is left as a mental exercise for the reader.

Well I really wasn't going to kill it, I was going to do the Mafia thing and just ruff it up abit so that it knew I meant business, albeit the thought of killing it has crossed my mind.

I will down grade it, I was just hoping to find a fix. I have one unit going out tomorrow to a 70 year old woman (who by the way seems very computer savvy) and I hate to send out something that may decide to go south when she sets it up.

I have sent one out with the down-grade and hosts patch (actually several) and it did work "Plug-n-Play" as advertised. I just hate cats and hot tin roves or is that I am like a cat on a hot tin roof when I send one out in a backdated condition.

Beside there is the issue of fair play, if it works for some it should work for me also.

Oh no, my friend, it does not work, I have no faith in the DirectX solution. Yes, losing it is a very apt description :)

I downgraded the evil little humper and shoved it out of my sight, behind a huge network printer where it can't taunt me (who am I kidding, I know I can't stay away from it--where else can you buy this much fun for $40...).

Did you download the file to the thin client, or are you executing it from a flash drive? Is there any chance that file is corrupt?
You have at least 512 flash and 512 ram? Got it directly from HP site? Latest release of XPe?

I had the same "not a win 32" error with directx. I realized IT MUST be the xpe version from HP for thin clients, not just regular DIRECTX from a freeware site. After downloading it to the desktop it is called sp36531.exe

Stroths provides a link directly to it somewhere on this forum. If you can't find it, I'll try to find it when I get a few minutes.

And for sure be sure that you reflash with the latest XPe version. If you are using what ever version was on it when you bought it, who knows what could be locked out etc.

15.9meg free? I was looking for something like 512meg - programs = plenty of room to install DirectX. Z: drive? Is your temp/tmp settings pointing to Z: drive? DirectX should install with no problems on C:

am able to install that file it also says for me not enough space but i allocate more space with the ram disk utility in the control panel. but after that MJ installs and everything, gets the dial tone initially and i get that ping noise that you get when MJ is still in the process of booting up.

Right click on My Computer and click on Properties. Next click on the Advanced tab. You should see a button near the botton called Environment Variables. Click on it and change the tmp and temp directories to C:\temp. Make sure you have a C:\temp directory first. Also write down or remember where the tmp and temp directories are so you change them back. Do this, commit and reboot. Now try installing DirectX from your C: drive.

TA,

You may have to down load it again. It is a self executing zip file so you can test it with any of your zip utilities. i.e. Winrar. The very first one I downloaded was corrupt and had to down load again myself. Severs sometime corrupt compressed files, no idea why but I have seen it happen way more than once.

Good luck.

PS - This is meant as a complement, but it sounds like you have ventured into waters that you have never visited before. So the golden rule here is take it slow and take a lot of breaks to let the gray matter clear itself. And the buzz word is "Persistence".
