Are there different versions of Magicjack? If so, what are the differences and cost?

None that I know of, just different updates which you should be running the latest version. When you plug in MJ and it connects to their servers, usually the latest update is installed automaticly

I think there are 2 different hardware versions, the newer of which came out around March of this year. They look identical except for a small rectangular white piece above the J on the MJ itself. If it has this white part, it is one of the newer ones (mine is one). I don't know how they differ are or how the newer version is improved, since there are no other visible signs.
